It can be argued how the forum ratio falls, either towards pvpers or 'carebears'. For me Eve is a PvP game and I can't imagine never killing someone. So I ask the question, is there anyone here who retains their 'virginity'? How do you feel about it, do you often imagine doing it one day? Is it by choice?
Thanks.

Just on the main or alts too ? Ship kill enough or do you mean just pod kills? Be more specific. _

I will admit, I have never attacked another ship in 2.5 years. There is no intrinsic value for destroying another ship, killmails cannot be cashed in for isk, ships are flown with the cheapest modules I can pull out of level 4 loot, and I have to give up training time by replacing my implants. And everytime I have tried to head into lowsec, the return on investment of the time spent aquiring, putting a cheap ship together, and jumping into anything lower then .5 sec is not worth the 15 minutes or 3 jumps it takes me to loose it. If I want to make deep safes and jump gate book marks where I have to land on grid then burn away I want to do it uninterrupted so i can get it done right then and there, not dodge every dude for a couple days to make some decent safes in a dozen systems. I choose not to get involved in ship to ship combat, its over before it begins for me and the mechanics of clicking overview-orbit-right click directions feels to sluggish for me.

If you build drakes and target other drakes. There's is definitely an intrinsic value for destroying another ship.
Oh, and lets not forget the tears of the dude who lost his drake.

Why bother playing a game at all if it all comes down to the acquisition of ISK? you say kill mails cannot be cashed in for ISK but ISK cannot be cashed in for any benefit IRL (not "legally" anyway)
Whats the point in playing if you are so terrified your space pixels might get turned into some different space pixels by another player? PvP isn't about kill mails either its about the experience of flying with your corp mates and enjoying all the random events along the way, some of them are good some are bad, some will make you laugh and others will frustrate you but at the end of the day you get to actually live your IG life and fill it with experiences instead of everything being a time to profit calculation.

I've never killed someone solo.
In fleets on the other hand plenty of times, but I've also saved plenty of people due to logistics, ewar.
I've had opportunities for solo kills but I'm just a friendly giant mushroom most of the time. ------------------- piccy |

I'm more or less categorized as a "Carebear with teeth". That being said, I've got a few corpses that are waiting for display in Incarna. If I get a half-decent chance, I've got a few more heads I'd like to add to the collection.
For the most part, I'll just take the contents of their wallets, instead of their lives. Market PvP, FTW. _______________________________

I've not yet managed to pod/destroy the ship of someone in game (NPCs not included). I fail at PvP. So in a way, it is not by choice.

Edited by: Bane Necran on 20/05/2011 02:43:58 I've been playing since '05, and have never actively tried to kill another player.
The game doesn't offer any real incentive to do it, and i'm not the type to grief. I spend a fair bit of time in lowsec and even 0.0, though, escaping people who'd like to kill me while doing my own thing. The same rush some people get from killing others i get from outwitting them. Have had some particularly epic chases in 0.0 flying a prowler. Looking forward to what smuggling might be like in Incarna. That's something i could really get into.
Actually, now that i think of it, there was one time i set out to kill people. I was pretty drunk and some friends talked me into heading into the great wildlands looking for people to blow up. It ended pretty hilariously, and caused a bit of a diplomatic incident.

I got my first true PvP kill the other day can flipping.
Me and a corpmate had been checking belts and find two retrievers, I'm in a caracal, corpmate is in an itty II.
I flip both retriever's cans (completely full of kernite, lucky find for us) and they both warp out. We wait for a few minutes expecting and hoping they come back in some failfit miner-combat vessels, and one warps in in a Prophecy. He takes my shields down, and I warp out. Switch to my Drake, warp back in, and engage the Prophecy. At this point his friend has come back in a Bestower and is taking OUR rightfully-stolen ore (and is now red to me).
I would have started firing on the Bestower and continued fighting the Prophecy but I wasn't 100% sure I could take the Prophecy and I only had one point (after this I had my Itty friend carry a distruptor to pin people down in situations like this until I could take care of them)
Of course in hindsight I should have kept the Prophecy pointed and 2-volleyed the Bestower because his first volley of lasers took my shields to 98% and my first missile volley took him to 40% shields. I beat the Prophecy with a good 45%-50% shields remaining and my Itty friend takes the remaining ore. My first successful kill, my only regret is I didn't get the Bestower as well

this is why miners don't shoot can flipper. even if they come back with a ship made to fight back there is always an escalation until the miner dies. its the flippers that have the Epeen to loose, the miners are just trying to make a living.
i haven't killed many personally like to shoot at ninja salvagers, spawn/agro the room and cloak up (it is a real art to get out and back into a mission without taking out the scramber frigs). just to watch him and his buddies get killed by the mission. then i salvage them and the mission wrecks, so much joy from such a small act.
i dont get ninja salvaged much...i wonder why?

I don't pod people unless they're part of an organized assault from a nearby system and I need to make them waste a few minutes' more time getting back to the fight.

My main is on a few kills. 1 solo kill (hauler so that was easy), no pods tough. And with current changes CCP made I no longer can see if I'm dealing with an alt, a carebear or die hard pvp dude so I either run for all now or shoot all now.
Think it'll be running.
