Personally, I never really thought of the Jove being THAT advanced in weaponry. The only reason they could destroy Apocs in a single hit is because they had a HUUUGE version of a normal gun. And the Amarr still killed a third of the Jove force, so Jove aren't THAT advanced... ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

Maybe they should use projectiles.

Why not particle accelerator weapons?
most of those would have to be doughnut shaped and big, meaning the ships themselves would be either doughnut shaped or disk shape

Particle accelerator gun? I might be wrong, but isn't that just a railgun..? ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

railguns accelerate large shells, basically like artillery cannons, only they use force of magnetism rather than gun powder
particle acelerates would accelerate a stream of particles, such as protons, to near-light speed and then smash them into a target. The force is great enough that various funky quantum reactions can occur.

Quote: Particle blasters operate on a similar principle as the railgun except they fire a magnetically contained ball of subatomic particles. No other turret class can match the sheer destructive power of particle blasters, but due to the rapid dispersion of the containment field, it also has the worst range of all turrets. Requires hybrid ammo types: antimatter, iridium, iron, lead, plutonium, thorium, tungsten, uranium

"time / space distortion beams - takes a ton of capacitator but does huge damage, medium tracking, all damage types. Looks like a warp tunnel but compresssed to a thin beam."
... When i read 'time/space distortion' got the mental image of a turret that lags the server node to the point no one can shoot back at the Jove using it... :s

Yeah, mothership is the same as Titan.
Three huge vessels were built, termed Motherships; they were the first Titan-class ships ever built.

/me thinks that they were using TomB's Jovian Nerfbats on the Ammar fleet
I got hit by and saw people hit by those and they could take any BS out in one hit.

Edited by: Noriath on 13/02/2005 01:38:19 As far as I know , Jovians are armed with a Nerf bat.
Yea, I said it too.

They probably will be armed with some sort of "Beam", although not necessarily lasers.
Probably particle beams.

Ahhh, simple and rare:
Singularity cannons.
2 types:
The singularity beamer (kinetic/thermal). By focusing 3 high intensity gravitation emitters (like the kind that keeps your ships hovering in the sation hangar) on a single spot it creates a beam which extends for thousands of meters. The gravitational effects disrupt molecular bonds (kinetic) and induce massive accretion heat (thermal) which is the compression of atomic mass to its energy release state.
The singularity Cannon - creates a point singularity at a desired range... such as within your ship. High energy, short range, but devastating.

We already have caldari/gallente with kinetic/thermal weaponry.

Does it really matter what damage types they do? There's only 4 types, so unless you introduce a new one, Jovian weapons are going to have to use some damage type thats the same as another race's damage type. You figure they're going to have to be advanced enough to do ALL damage types, considering even the Minmatar have invented weapons that can do every kind of damage, and they've been oppressed for the past, oh, few centuries or so Damage type isn't the question.

How about in directly firing cannnons? I.E never miss but dont do as much damage (also they never miss but have ranges and more range=less damage, with some variables as well)

Joves > Everybody. It doesn't matter how they do it, really. And it's in the Prime Fiction, no changing it. They use lasers, they love Amarr, simple as that... >_> ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

A beam that in width is nearly the size of an Apocalypse! I can only imagine the dimensions of the gun itself that emitted that.

Thats a beam weapon fitted to the Jovian Titan.
I don't think its fair to say that all Jove weapons are that powerfull.

Well, from what I have heard, the few Jovian guns that have made it into the game require a skill called "Small Gravity Beam" or something similare, and the skill isn't available anywhere.
I'm guessing the Jovians already have their own weapon type, and it's some sort of gravity manipulation weapon.

Very cool pic there.
Anyone know where it is full sized somewhere?
