While your new 'friend' is a little brusque, there is a little background story to the whole Boston Bradley v Socratic mini-soap opera..
After reading this thread, I - like so many others - stopped by Arnon to see if Socratic is actually that...stupid/bad/dumb.
At first it was like visiting a foreign country laughing at all their seemingly backwards customs. However, after awhile a pattern easily appeared.
Socratic, ever the victim, always has whatever disease that is mentioned in local--even if it is mentioned in a totally unrelated way. If it isn't him, its some close relation to him. In just 1 night of visiting Arnon, I have logs where Socratic claims to be a 61 year old with cancer, whose mother is 87 with parkinson's and something else and whose aunt(s?) I'm pretty sure he claimed both died of whatever VD was being talked about at the time in local.
There's low and there's low. Yes, it could be said that Boston was low in what he said, but, IMNSHO, Socratic is even lower for even trying to play that pity card--lying or not (but doubly so if he is lying).
Socratic eventually even turned his maladies into insults aimed at the very people trying to white knight him in local chat.
I won't lie, I too hurled vitriol at him for his attention-whoring by CONSTANTLY reminding everyone about his supposed malignancies while, at the same time, using them to as a reason to act to superior and smug to everyone else around (enemy and friend alike)

I can admit that is one way to interpret the actions undertaken. However, personally, as soon as Socratic crossed the line I simply stopped caring. I'm not a smacker unless there is a truly outrageous cause. I did most of my smacktalk back in the days of BBSs (and then only on the ones where that was the particular regional culture).
My own foray into the banter was an attempt to be absurd about it to the point of being comical (after Socratic threw out there that his mother has Parkinson's I merely speculated that "I bet she gives good hand-jobs") Irreverant? Yeah. Puerile? Absolutely. Irreverant? Quite a few people got a chuckle however and it got me added to Socratic's ignore list whilst getting a few people to question how truthful Socratic is/was.
Make no mistake, I'm not trying to white knight Boston. By all means, have fun shooting him up. I do, quite honestly, find this threads sudden white knighting of Socratic to be puzzling however.
