Hi I wouldn't think that I'd be the only one to question about session timers i.e the idle mechanics only; specially the one where you just change ships but have to wait 30 seconds plus another 30 (a full minute maybe a half more after you spend alt-tabbing while waiting for it), but wouldn't it be a little better if we have a cut down in session timers? Let's say at least to 20-25 seconds =P
If one would be able to walk in the Station within the minute and a half of ship changing and having at least an activity to cut that time that's productive, yet again the time is too short to even do anything! =S - Session timers.. Loading loading - I also heard of a past glitch where you can just switch ships instantly without the timers, just like that; so I think it would be possible! 10-20 seconds maybe?
I know it would take or be like a huge overhaul in the system (reducing lag etc.) but I wonder if such a cut would be a bit good entirely- I know a minute and a half isn't that big of a deal but just imagine having a quick response and just getting things done a little bit quicker instead of having to sit idle every time you just get to operate... cutting your activities half the time; we have other rl stuff to do . Would actually be neat (IMO) to have EvE having to play it with a bit less of a time to actually get to do things, well much quicker?

yes, the session change timer is a very annoying mechanic in eve. Cut it down to 15 seconds or something.

The session change timer is not a mechanic in the sense that it's not there to keep the game fair and balanced It's there to insure that the database, server, and client are in sync data-wise when something drastic happens to your character (i.e., you change systems or ships, dock, get your ship blown up, etc).
It's 30 seconds long to insure that all the data necessary to properly implement your new state is correct and accounted for. While I agree it would be nice if it were shorter, let's not make the mistake that it's as simple as putting a new number in a variable somewhere.
Or we could just cowboy it, and watch the amusement when the server thinks you're both docked and undocked and someone pops that shiny carrier you've been playing station docking games with when you think it's all safe and protected. --Vel

There had been times before that people were able to switch ships without the session timer and it had no effects
What if they actually put the timer for undocking, people can switch ships easily and there will only be half a minute for sessions |

dear lord, please figure out a way to reduce session changes (no, not my alliance). Drop fleet, 30sec, dock, 30s, change ship, 30s, undock, 30s, join new fleet 30s.... commit suicide 0s.
