Just want to say congrats to the few scholars and indeed gents who took 10min+ out of their time pre-fight to set up streams for us to watch their matches.
The matches I managed to see were hosted by:
Brick sQuAD's - NeoShocker
Atlas's - ttocszed00
Black Legion's - Das Forscher
No commentary, no analysis, beyond what the 150 odd people watching could provide, but for all that, 100% better than the sweet F-all we'd have otherwise.
I managed to find out about the streams through - http://en.irc2go.com/webchat/?net=Coldfront&room=eve-news
Hopefully, more of the teams will be able to sort out some streams for us all to watch tommorrow.
Cheers again fellas,
Para

TEST had a good stream from their side. Was cool to watch it from both sides back and forth.
Thanks so much for doing in 5 minutes what CCP can't do with a weekend.

Yeah I saw that stream, but didn't catch the name of the host. And I agree, seeing both sides of the fight from particpants perspectives was pretty cool.
If CCP won't allow any volunteer "camera operators" into the arenas hopefully we can get enough teams streaming we can get some fairly comprehensive coverage for tommorrow!

Edit: Incidentally, I've been sending 20mill isk to each of the hosts so far, it's not out of the realms of possibility that hosts could make a reasonable profit on the early rounds if they get some good streams up.

You can skip the VAC part of the tutorial tho. Since no sound is really required for the streams. And even without it you get decent sound if you want to. Or if you got a realtek soundcard you can use the Stereo Mix feature. ( If it don't show up in FMLE go to: Control panel -> Sound -> Recording devices -> Then activate Stereo Mix. If it isn't in the list, right-click then 'show deactivated devices' and it will show up.)

yeah, wanted to do something. I tested 2 hours earlier, had 30-40 people at most before the match. No one mentioned how blurried it was (but not that bad). I assumed it was "awesome" because appearently someone in alliance that was helping test said "I can see my chat". :s

Many thanks to both the Streamers and for posting Fraps gents, we know it's something you don't have to do and it IS appreciated!
MongWen, I particularly enjoyed your logistic work, I thought it was all over until they switched primaries... Lucky lucky. Although I did notice you gave the tengu a cycle or two, you teasing the poor guy or what? Lol.
I still need to look at the Bacon V NC fight, but some fella called Ian has posted a little vid called Clear Skies 3, and I'm downloading that at full throttle.

Edited by: Oli Robbo on 31/05/2011 18:14:57 As much as I love to watch the tourney videos as anyone else, it really p[i]sses me off that people have made videos of the qualifying fights.
Not because I don't like player made footage or respect the players that take time of out to produce them, I actually love it and wish people would do more, but what frustrates me is that CCP is obviously not producing for the qualifying vids to save money [despite what they say] and know that no matter how much people complain, players will still make vids because they quite rightly want to show off their fight[s].
I know theres a whole seperate thread for this but whats the point of running the tourney if you're not going to put full commitment into it CCP.
Edit, rage over. sorry for de-railing the thread, props to you guys who have taken the time to record these fights.

I'd say half the players are too lazy to read the forums, and considering most players don't know about the home-made streams, there are not as many viewers

Don't get me wrong, I love the live stream I can't get enough : )
But I'm not going to be a child about it, I'm grateful to ccp for doubling the live coverage this year and for them doing it AT ALL.
I remember when the allince tourny was at about the quality that these videos are it's nostalgic. And i do agree that with more time in place they should let a 3rd party in to commentate even if it's just over eve radio.
But I also understand that not many people are going to be as interesting in these smaller matches. If we look into the future, the playerbase doesn't want 7 weeks of live coverage. That's horribly unreasonable on the volunteers.
It's not like they are getting paid to to do the allaince tourny.

The doubled the amount of studio coverage not the amount of live coverage.
Live coverage was reduced by 1/3 in favour of more studio coverage (unless im really forgetful here) personally I would rather have more live coverage of the matches than studio filler.
And that's still no excuse for not letting the radio stations even do coverage.
With regards to not getting paid to do the tourney its worth remembering that at the very least as far as I'm aware loxy got employed following CCP working closely with eve-radio to do live coverage of the early tourneys and of fanfest. And some of the others were employed following commentating and putting in aps. Finally none of the competitors get paid to do it and you might think thats a stupid statement but given that without competitors there would be no tournament and the likes of soundwave from what he has said elsewhere really enjoy their time running and most importantly hosting the tournaments so arguably they should appreciate the people that allow them those opportunitys as much as those people should appreciate the devs for putting the tournament on. Right now the players feel that the devs have not appreciated them from the start and no doubt the devs now feel the players dont appreciate their hard work but they have brought it on themselves.

I agree with pretty much your whole post other than that very very last part. I don't think the devs have brought this apon themselfs.
but yes there is no excuse for why they won't let in a 3rd party to stream, however I can understand from a big business sand point that it's just too late to make the change tis year.
I'm just trying to make a call for sanity here. That there are lots of valid complaints, like everything you posted. Bu the hostile attitude is not construction, and in fact is way to hurtful towards the devs spending their free time to run this whole thing. There is way to bring up concrens without acting like children is all I'm saying.
For instance if there any allaince that is really so upset about the coverage, then they could step out in protest. I fact they all could.
Not in hateful F you ccp, way. But in a honorable way. like we are sorry, but we want our matches to be covered by a 3rd party. If you won't do that we won't fight.

I hope teams keep recording through the group stages, I for one, am really enjoying seeing the fights from the pilots point of view.
The "official" feed we get from CCP actually feels pretty removed from the fight at times, whereas some of the movies provided by the teams have been really great stuff, letting you see not only that Ship A killed Ship B, but how they did it too.

Any ideas why they switched off your scimi and back on later? Seemed like he was on his way down when they stopped hitting him.
Obviously too busy, frantically trying to gather all modules and ships, finding some implants not available, and having EVERYTHING traded to me. At which point I panicked, and just equipped my ship first, grabbed the implants, and handed the remaining stuff to the next guy :)
As for not killing the scimi: They failed to use precision missiles, AND we had damps ourselves too. As they realized they cuoldn't kill me fast enough they switched..

Perihelion Alliance v Rote Kapelle
Report: We assembled three T3 ships and a salvaging cormorant to go and run some PVE sites in Jove space. We warped to a cosmic anomaly called "Battle Arena 1", but before we could start running it, a group of pirates warped in on us. They must've had a bubble or something, because it wouldn't let us warp out. Anyway, we managed to kill them, though unfortunately we lost our cormorant.

I hope this guy realises that EVETV does infact exist.
As for fraps of matches, it is sometimes nice to see how a match unfolds from the eyes of one of the teams, along with listening to how they FCed it. Also good to lol at how terrible people fly their ships. ______________________________

This guy does realise EVETV exists, has been watching the Alliance Tournaments since AT4, but is not always satisfied with the coverage or commentary...

This is Sev3rance vs Vanguard Imperium. It has the Eve TV commentary overlay and it's pretty well timed.

Day 4: Ushra'Khan vs Ignore This. - added.
Vids have obviously dried up since CCP began producing, which was VERY impressive in my opinion.
I did doubt the decision to not cover the qualifiers, but I'll admit I was wrong, CCP's quality of production was really really excellent, and AT9 was the best I've seen since I started watching in AT4.
Big improvement (again) in commentating and expert chat over previous years, and Soundwave, wow, how good have you got at hosting the Tournament?
Great stuff.
