Just had a storyline mining agent offer me a mission. It gave me "Shipyard Theft" which is a combat mission.
According to the GM who answered my petition, Storyline agents still give all sorts of missions, regardless of whether they are mining, security etc.

Doesn't this have to do with storyline mechanics tending to favor giving the same type of mission as you had been doing for the last 16 or something?

IIRC They said they couldn't change the story agents right away because the mission pools were so small for some divisions (something like that)
They want to do it in the future but for now they are still mixed.

It would be pretty limiting if you had to make sure your closest storyline agent was the right type on top of finding the agent/corp you want. It would probably make a lot of good combat agents be crap because you'd always get a mining or courier storyline. Besides I don't think there are any mining storyline missions anyway (Mats for War Prep is a Trade mission and the worst storyline mission there is for standings gains) and the courier ones are generally (with a couple of exceptions) also absolute crap with tiny standings gains and tiny payoffs as your 'reward' for doing 16 missions.
If they have to change them they should just have the storyline agent ask if you want to haul or shoot for them and then give you a random one within your choice instead of making a bunch of them worthless courier/mining agents.

I like that idea: just have the agent ask you to choose the type then generate the mission. Wouldn't need any new agents and wouldn't need to move any.
There really should be something more after doing 16 mission than 500k for hauling something 4 jumps. =============================== Two words: Internet Spaceships |

This will be fixed in coming releases as we add more storyline missions. If we aligned them to the new divisions right now there would be too little diversity (and balance, probably) to storylines. This was identified as a "To Do" when those changes were added, so we're aware of it and planning to address it.

Is this planning to address it like Faction Warfare or planning to address it like making sure we can pay to have purple hair?

Hi,
for my past 25 storyline missions I was given 18 crappy courier and only 7 kill missions (so 72% missions I didn't want to do) - all missions were handed out by security storyline agents and all missions i've ever done were kill missions. I agree with the good idea to be asked which kind of storyline you wanna do - as it is now, its a nuisance....

LOL In the last 2 or 3 years I have gotten maybe 4 combat storylines. All the rest have been courier or trade. And the courier one is always the crap one, rarely ever the big 40k one.

Yeah, right. That's why you usually end up with "Materials for war preparation" after doing 16 combat missions.

The best part of that mission is that the level 4 version gives exactly half the standings gain as the level 3 version does. I filed a bug report about it, and it's been 5 (yes FIVE) months and the bug report is as yet unfiltered and unanswered.
I suppose it's better than the bug report before that, which was listed as fixed in '2011 R2' but it's still not fixed... and that was just for water and oxygen having the wrong item categories for sorting/searching purposes
And for the topic of storyline agents being by divison... how many security agents will then always send you to a mining or distro storyline agent... Storyline agents should just ask you what type of mission you want and then do the random pick. A simple "I want to shoot, haul, mine" popup would do the trick and make everybody happy.
double edit: didn't notice I had posted in this months ago before it got necroed

Hey, I like Materials for War Prep! It takes about 10 seconds to do if you already have the kernite in station and you get a +4 worth at minimum 15mil, so that's like 5bil an hour! lol

CCP doesn't suck, yet.... the problem is their "priorities" are so far gone that spinning the wheel of fortune would get better results a little more than half the time.

Last storyline mission I got was a hauling mission. Was a bit miffed that a mission they told me was A Very Important Mission just required me to haul 8000m3 2 jumps away :D . |

Those implants come from Shipyard Theft, but it can give any of the mindlink implants and with all the new storylines added that mission has become rarer in itself and then getting the mining foreman as your draw on top of just getting the mission made that implant even rarer than it was. I'm sad I sold the one I had sitting in a hangar a few months ago for a measley 150m, I should've waited longer.
