Okay, when I originally saw this match-up I was wondering who was going to lose. I hate both alliances and well I didn't know who I wanted to lose more. But, I did hope that of the setups fielded that IRC would bring the stupider of the two... I was wrong.
Can someone please explain to me why SF thought that 2 bombers with 2 curse (emphasis on the 2 Curse) would be an ideal setup, especially given the number of Caldari and Minmatar setups that have been fielded in this tournament alone, let alone past tournaments?
Yes, curse kills cap, and yes bombers have decent dps for their size, and yes they at least brought a scimitar to back them up. But really? Given the probability you were going to come up against a drake, tengu, or any minmatar cruiser/battlecruiser, why would you rely on the curse to protect the bombers?

Most of the SF thorax-charge team is now in rote kapelle (theorycrafters especially), or inactive from what I understand.
But I've been told that someone attacked SF's towers as their match was about to start, that would be distracting!

As it happens the majority of our famous alliance tourney team is still with us. There are a couple with Rote Kapelle, some more have quit the game or gone inactive. Amusingly those currently with Rote were virilently opposed to the idea of fielding 10 thoraxes back in the day and were overruled.
But as always with tournaments there is an element of randomness, element of planning and element of deployment skill. Doesn't always work - and for most teams (the huge majority bar one each year) something will go wrong that costs them the title.

Now I wont judge your intentions, however to be honest.... in the 5 vs 5 almost everyone knows that you are more than likely to come up against minmatar or caldari cap less weapons and passive tanks. Now a curse does great against guns with a disruption fit. But they do not become very useful until larger fights where they can focus on logi's or recons.
Nice effort but a somewhat odd set-up for a 5 vs 5 fight. Better luck next time.

Your memory seems to be hazy. Jonny Damordred floated the idea. He is no longer playing or in either alliance. Sakura Nihil was the captain and took JD's idea, improved on it, and gave it the green light. He's the CEO of one of the corporations in Rote Kapelle, and flew on our team Saturday. I came up with the ECM drone twist and spent half the night before on Ventrilo convincing the people who thought it was the worst idea in the world. Ituralde was the only one of those unconvinced that comes to mind as being in Rote Kapelle.
As for the pilots, Atandros, myself, and Neurotica (owned by Tyzzara until recently, who has been and still is currently a director of Stimulus and Rote Kapelle since the beginning) are Rote Kapelle pilots now.
Zudari is no longer in Star Fraction.
So you are correct in saying that 6/10 are still in Star Fraction. But let's not start taking the credit away from Sakura for fielding the setup. It always was his call to make as captain, and he made it.
Incidentally, my favorite random fact to share about that match--I was the only SF pilot at the time to buy up some slave implants (they were allowed in AT4, but we did not have the funds as an alliance team to purchase them and use them as we knew BoB did) and plug them in before the match. Worked out well as they primaried me second after Jade. I still fly that same slave clone today (though I've updated some of the hardwires and added a mindlink to the clone), and it's the only clone I've ever had that I've never lost. Yet, anyway. ____________________ GM Sunshine > oops Neurotica > Hate to see a GM in your gang say 'oops'

An old corpy of mine bet me a Bhaalgorn that IRC would beat SF. It seemed like such a good bet at the time. You guys cost me like a billion :(
OK, so there were other matches in the spread too, but that was the clincher.
Also, gambling on this tourny is harder than usual because of all the terrible nonentities and stupid alt alliances. It's so much better when most of the names in the hat are people I've heard of. |

In retrospect you are right about Ituralde's objection. Was the person I was thinking of. Still I think we both agree that your pilot leboe was drooling nonsense in the intial post - lets call it a "troll" and move on.

The feeling is rather mutual. I feel pretty embarrassed (for and with you) every time I see you slurring pointless nonsensical claptrap in local and equating risk-averse mob tactics as pvp excellence while venting bitter steam from your multiple ego wounds.
Its always worse in the context of your whinging about ATs past since when we talk about proto Stim (in Star Fraction) achieving with us what was one of the greatest acts of revolutionary accomplishment in new eden against the supreme sitting territorial power of the day turned in some petty little points scoring excercise with you trying to dine out on the fighting of six pilots who didn't choose to abandon all their principles and idealism and become what we fought.

Good comment DHB thanks. I'll let our team captain respond if he fancies later on but I did play a part in theorycrafting other setups for SF that lost consistently to the bomber/curse/scim combo so guess I do have responsibity for that. If we're guilty of anything as a group I guess its in ignoring the more ordinary threats and its fairly clear that most decided on certain fairly tight concepts around the mini/caldari t3 - so your criticism is pretty spot on.
Still, we keep trying ... if only to consistently wind up bitter little fruitcakes from fat-boy alliances like Sakura and Rote Kapelle who can't let a year go by without public weeping on the issue :)

Hey now Sak might be a touch portly but he hardly counts as an entire alliance by himself.

Because their RP has been more important than actually being good at the game for years now, basically. I mean, their top scorer for the previous week was one of their POS towers, ffs.

Stopped reading at this point, too busy laughing at the irony.
Quote: Jericho Fraction has been targeted for destruction and annihilation by the twin alliances Rote Kapelle and Veto who in defence of their puppet nationalist representative Moira Corporation, have forged a bold (if somewhat baffling) combination of Gurista/Sansha loyalist/Anti Sansha Federal Extremist agenda united (if their words to be believed) only in hatred for the Free Captains and febrile boasted intentions to drive the Fraction from Placid and burn our holdings and staging towers to the ground!

Dystopia didn't exist 5 years ago silly, GH-SC on the other hand had lots more flashes than just the UQS heist, we're not particularly eve-relevant anymore but we've always been tourney relevant. Made it to quarter finals in last two, made it to semi-finals twice before that, both times losing to the eventual winner of those tourneys..
Edit; Sorry for going off topic ! This thread is pretty amusing even if it's like the fourth nearly identical thread about this subject, please carry on with Stimulus vs SF slapfight. xD
