Following CCP's post on its facebook page about the chronicle concerning the Gallente and Caldari War this is what I had to say. We should remember Nouvelle Rouvenor? How about we remember what Eve was? How about we remember the sht clap trap that it is starting to become.
Here's what you should really remember: When Eve Online posted these amazing stories full of rich detail and stunning realism. Remember when they would post stories in the news feed. Remember that all the events that made Eve what it is today came from an amazing fiction, not X number of titans killed, Y number of players involved in Z system. CCP, you said you would bring them back. You said it would be better then ever.. You have so far, not kept that promise. Every new player in Eve has missed out on those amazing stories. And if they stay, they will be less for it.
A whole wave of new players are missing out on what was once the richest fiction of any gaming universe.
This fiction drew me into Eve. How many good players will we lose without it?
TL;DR I'm ****y about there being no chronicles.

Originally by: CCP Abraxas The EVE Chronicles are going on hiatus for a bit, after which we'll be publishing them less regularly, but more strategically. I want to tell you a bit about how we got to where we are and where we're going from here.

Ain't it like too late to complain about it now? They've stopped making them a looooooooong time ago, a shame since it was the only EVE-related thing I could really do for a long time but... actually lose players over it?
As long as All These Wayward Children and The Ever-Turning Wheels are up, I'm still satisfied :)

Patience. As a roleplayer, I believe that the project described in that blog post is extremely worthwhile. _____________________________ [Sebiestor tattoos and hair plus Intaki hair: Bring them back.] |

Its been 6 months and not a peep out of CCP about it. I've mentioned before that we don't even see anything in the news feeds about the Incursions anymore. Its not just he chronicles I'm talking about, they've shut down the whole fiction factory and have been spewing the same garbage into the news feed for the last 6 months. I've read the blogs about it. I've kept my eye's sharp for any news about it. And all we get are worthless patches and OMGLOOKATALLTHESEKILLMAILS from CCP. Not to mention, the information from the blog mentions nothing about WHAT they're doing.

What do you mean?
They go over the whole wiki crap and links to in game stuff, but whats the reasoning behind shutting off the valve totally? Why stop the news feeds? Incursions mean nothing to me without any detail of whats happening. Not a word about how 'the war goes' or any new details about what the heads of the individual states are handling the ever present Incursion. It seems like just more background noise anymore. The immersion is shattered for me without the slightest bit of fiction happening. It use to be that every third or fourth feed in the news ticker was about how the everyday Joe Planetside was fairing, now* its just the same crap.

not lose existing players, but miss out on drawing a few in, like myself. Before I ever played Eve, I found myself reading chronicle after chronicle before I finally said enough is enough, I'm getting into this world. It wasn't the graphics, the spaceships, the player base or any number of things that brought me to Eve, it was its fiction.

I'd like to see the return of the news stories from the different factions.
We've not had any since October last year.

I miss the regular chronicles. They added some real backstory and depth to the universe. Their removal is just another sign that CCP don't give a damn about their customers or the game any more.

No... they started the "immersion project" which... I don't know what will do.
But like ALL THINGS IN EVE they STARTED it but never got around to actually DO it.

More of the same. How many times have i heard this? Not a single word from CCP about how it progresses? Nothing about how this so called site and links in game universe is moving? Your right though, it is just another project CCP started and is either to incompetent to deliver, or is so ambitious they've gotten to deep over their heads to dig themselves out of.

RP, back story and chronicles don't pay the bills. Vanity items, books and PLEX do.
Therefore no RP, back story or chronicles.

I miss the chronicles too.
CCP are such a greedy letdown of a company these days. It's obvious they no longer care about the finer details which used to set them apart from the competition.

Its really not possible to say it any better then this. CCP is just one lame let down after another. (ex. t3's flying backwards.) I mean, REALLY? How did you miss that one? HOW? I miss the stories from the news feed more then the chronicles though. It gave a bit of depth (all be it shallow) from the everyday isk, killmail whoring, gate camping, station spinning grind.

Since the bought White Wolf and all the IP they don't really need to write for that MMO that has been going on for 17+ years they even made a tv-series about it (kindred, the embraced).
It is to be hoped that the immersion project and captains quarters with the huge tv in the room will revive the atmosphere in eve a little of a universe where stuff actually happend. They where capable to do it in the olden days so why not now they are huge and have chinese manpower :)
The rumours of doing new and regular live events like they used to was launched by CCP also, lets hope they do that (and meanwhile fix faction warfare)

EVE Chronicles showed Gallente in too positive a light, therefore they had to be canned.

Just throwing my support in here for this thread. I really wish CCP would rething their 'strategy' on this one. Fortnightly chronicles were something I really looked forwards to.
Snapshots of lore and everyday life for individuals within this massive universe where the individual is rarely considered.
Aside from being a great read they really added a sense of scale. ~~~

My entire opinion on the Gallente was changed when I read this a while ago. Out of all the other Torture methods the Gallente way seems the most brutal
Also read "Two Deaths"
The Gallente try to act like they care for human rights but after reading the chronicles they appear to violate human rights more than any other race.

It's sad to see CCP losing their love for the backstory and adding some really valuable content for those that enjoy the eve lore.
Hopefully they will change their mind but I don't see it happening anytime soon

I'm well aware of their propaganda. I'm also well aware that CCP historically make promises and then just drop support for content. 4-5 months is enough of a hiatus.
