It actually feels like a duct tape and pins game, so I guess CCP's Minmatar ..

Originally by: Akita T Gee, let's throw accusations of botting, RMT and frak knows what else ruining the game, doom and gloom and end of the world and all that jazz, that's so much more believable, and far less verifiable, isn't it ?
You miss that some of the russians have publicly admitted to using (sanctioned) RMT to build up their supercap fleet.
And - whoever might be responsible for it - DDOSing other alliances' services and websites requires some investment to pull off and incurs a quite significant RL cost on the targets (exceeded traffic caps, necessity to buy protection services, ...). It seems very unlikely that a random empire pubbie who has just lost his Hulk decides to take such drastic measures... I'd call those parts of the metagame where you overstep RL legal boundaries "cheating" but you may disagree on that point...
Botting is something everybody can observe and that recruiting bots is good business for any corp or alliance with some space to spare is no secret either... Additional tax income but none of the risk associated with running bots yourself or laundering ISK? I'd recruit bots every day...
IMO your posts in this thread are uniformed rubbish - there is almost no debate that the DRF does what it is frequently accused of. The debate usually revolves around the NC being no bit better than that (while claiming the moral high ground).

When I read posts like the Original Poster's I don't wonder why these attacks fail.
If this sort of whining and crying goes on in his alliance then it's all doomed to be a disaster. Most of the threads that I read on the same theme of "The Russians Are Coming", "The Visigoths are at the city walls", etc., all come down to the same thing.
Lack of organisation and discipline.
Would I want to be part of an alliance in which people moaned and whined as the OP? No. Would I want to be a part of an alliance where it was run in a competant, dispassional and professional manner? Yes.

I didn't "miss" that, and neither anything of the following increasingly smug "gotchas" you posted afterwards. If you look at my words in context (namely, a rapid-fire line exchange with ROAR Exodus), it is obvious I merely stated it's easier and less verifiable to throw accusations of foul play than answer why the NC didn't field a decent defense fleet.
HOW their enemies got their funding for their supercap fleet is of a very distant secondary importance. Why THEY didn't have or if they had, why they didn't show up with an even larger supercap fleet was the issue.
What WAS relevant was the fact that "the NC" as a conglomerate had a very large mostly passive income source (Technetium) which went largely uncontested for a long period of time, an income source which could very well make any fringe botter tax income pale in comparison and would amount to huge amounts of RL cash in PLEX equivalents... and that the fleet that ISK could have easily bought, a fleet that could have been several times LARGER than the invading fleet failed to show up on the field. _

eBay, they just didn't say anything to the public. So they can bad mouth the Russians all they want right...
Fact is, Akita knows way way way too much about the resources in this game. He is questioning why you didn't field any of the resources you have been gathering over the years. I'm going to flat out accuse you guys of not having it any more because you sold it.
CCP handed you the game with the moon goo changes, then took it away from you with the anom changes (Carebear tears -> killed moral -> disrupted meat shield -> failcascade)

Eve would be a better game if they could somehow get rid of RMT. It's been going in in large alliances for a long time. I can understand players not knowing about it, not believing it's happening. But I know CCP is aware of it. Maybe they can't do anything about it, I don't know. What I do know however, is that it makes it a lesser game.

That is bordering on the unfeasible, even in games with much stricter rules of inter-player item/currency/other transfers. For EVE, it's not even a dream, it's downright impossible. All you can hope for is catch and punish some people that engage in it, whenever you're sure they're breaking the rules, but EULA-breaking RMT will always be around as long as people give a damn about their EVE characters. And then, there's also always GTC/PLEX. At least it's EULA-ok in one direction only. But mostly in the direction the losers of a fight usually complain about. _

actually, NC alt, it was your collective existence that was one of the biggest signs that eve needed some dramatic changes. the fact that you nullbears can't defend yourselves and are thus losing your space is a sign that things are changing for the better. ~loltheNC~
one sad thing though is that with the high sec mission changes, i won't be able to go to motsu and laugh at you all in one masterful stroke, for it will require a trip to various .5 systems. sigh.

All I've noticed here in the past few days is while the Russians quietly take over null sec, NC and everyone else comes here whining on the forums accusing them of botting/RMTing (like you aren't doing the same).
If there was an award for "Most whiny community", this forum would win it.
If you don't like the situation, do something about it. Stand up and fight. If there's a lack of assets, obtain them. For god's sake, fight fire with fire if you have to.

And everyone also tried to blame CCP for all their problems. Cut that sh!t and admit that you are weak and the Russians are simply a new empire that will put EVE in a new era which will eventually die out as well. Honestly though, the game is fine. Stop blaming CCP for everything.

Right, stop whining, just set up RMT shops and more bots so you can win, spoken like a true azzhat, seems the ones that are whining dont wanna lose there BOTs, RMT etc.

Originally by: Akita T The NC had control over most of the north for a very long time, with plenty of Technetium moons which brought in huge streams of ISK which could have bought HUNDREDS of supercap ships to assist in the defense just from the income in the past half year, not to speak of previously available supercaps. Where were those hundreds of possible supercaps for the defense team, might I ask ?
Ho the isk is surely in someone's wallet like the top heads but surely not in all members pockets.
The ships, they sold them to make more isk, sold them to those spanking they'r ass now.

CCP stand a chance of fighting RMT with income from mining and hunter bots, but how do you find RMT, when the source of ISK is passive from the bottle neck moon goo.

the only objective source you site is dotlan, and that is easily explained by game mechanics specific to drone anoms. the way the current conflict is progressing is actually the best and most obviously damning evidence showing that nc *has* been heavily rmt'ing its isk. there is just no doubt left __

Botting in EvE is like taking performance enhancing drugs in sports. It's clearly cheating but the prizes are too big for people to resist doing it, it seems.

What's wrong is those thousand people need to grow a pair. Better to fight and die than live on your knees no? --- There are two sides to the EVE community; those that scream for change and those that scream against it. Often they are the same person. |
