As such I'd suggest you experiment with something else first and learn the basics and what you want to do with it. Yes, I know you said solo pvp, but alas the raven needs a more narrow application. Do you want to go torps and toe-to-toe with other battleships also trying the solo-bs race or would you prefer the slightly more allround approach with cruise missiles that will die to the first activetanked ship it encounters(assuming the injectors can keep up with your neuts).
Basically I'd divide the possible raven setups into active cruise, passive cruise/nano(yes, I realise how that sounds, but meh, it works), passive torps. What is it you're interested in more specifically? Is it for lowsec, highsec or 0.0? Stations and gates, or ganking plex/missionrunners/beltratters? Do you have any kind of alts to do scouting, gang bonuses etc for you making it "solo"?
I'm going to be all solo all me on my own (and my crew) solo completly solo in low sec. And I choose the raven because I wanted a challenge.
