If pirates "hotdrop" capital ships on you then you should be laughing as you warp off. Capital's target lock VERY SLOOOWWWWWLY and if you cannot get out of your mission by the time it locks you... well... you are doing something horribly, horribly wrong.
Getting ganked is another matter entirely... but so long as you use D-scan and know what to watch out for you can keep pretty safe.

= your probably not going to win factored in pirates need a least double what you have to even consider going after you.
Errrrr... no. If I want to kill an active tanked ship running missions I bring in fast tackle to lock you down and a ship loaded with energy neutralizers. Once your cap is gone, your tank fails and the rats can do the dirty work for me. If friends want to come (they usually do) then who am I to say no. Though, it's not like I actually NEED them unless I'm expecting significant resistance.

not that you could say outnumbering is necessarily unfair, more of the once side given an overall larger advantage (you wouldn't take anything larger than 3 ppl into a level 5 because of the larger cut of the profit, where your 3 ships fitted well over a billion is gets a nice spread over 10+ pirates) so that being said w/e.
First off... you don't NEED to fly an expensive 1 billion ISK missioning ship to do missions. They are more of a luxury that anything else. Hell, I know a guy who runs his missions with two Dominix, their combined value being somewhere around 300 million. Another guy I know runs them using his interceptor with a carrier's fighters assigned to him. Remember, bigger and shinier IS NOT always better.
Second... not wanting to take a larger group for profit reasons clearly illustrates the meaning behind "risk vs. reward." If you want less risk, bring more people (some of them preferably in PvP fit ships for defensive reasons) and take the loss in overall ISK gain. Conversely, if you want more ISK you bring less people and risk getting caught in a bad situation where you might be outnumbered and/or outmaneuvered. _______________________
