Here's the deal - I've recently come into possession of a character that was training towards towards caldari battleships - all the skillbooks are sitting in the hanger, lots of will/per skills in the que. My main is starting to learn how to fly stealth bombers and battle cruisers - What skills can I put on my alt to make some isk passively ?
Can Planetery interaction generate enough isk to keep me in stealthbombers if I lose 1 a week ? What can I train to supplement my main (save isk) and also generate some money ? Is it worth training the gang boosting skills to help mission faster ? Or am I better off training to Battleships ? The reason I ask is we have a friend salvaging so that's right out.

PI on a reasonable character can earn about 200 million ISK per month (in lowsec/nullsec), but it's not completely passive as you have to reset your extractors 1-3 times per week and then pick up and transport your materials to market.
The most passive income possible is probably with R&D agents, but it will be less than PI and you will have to grind for standing with one of the 4 R&D corps to get their L4 agents. It's also less ISK than PI.

Out of morbid curiosity: Why is everyone STILL confusing PI with passive income? I know they both start with "P," but that's about as far as the similarity goes.

QFT. Unless you're begginner you will have to log on to attend to PI more often that you will have to for queuing skills.

As long you don't want to make a massive income. PI can be quite passive with long cycles.
Of course is like mining in high sec with a hauler. You won't get huge income but you can stay hours away from the computer and still make money.
Another passive income would be R&D agents, but they need standings and skills

Production, Making BPCs, PI, R&D and Trading are fairly "passive" ways to make ISK. Just a few minutes every so often to reset your extractors, change your orders, put new products/copies in the que.

When compared to NPCing or Mining, it looks a lot more passive.
Personally, I just lump it with trade/industry. Takes RL time, but not necessarily that much gameplay time. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

That's a mighty stretch of the "passive," definition. I wouldn't lump it in with trade and industry at all. Both of those can be set up and forgotten about for months, if you so desire, and still make reasonable profit for the isk invested.
