I am looking at this laptop
HP Pavilion dv7-4296nr Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 17.3" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi AMD Radeon HD 6570M
I always play two accounts and have graphics all set to low and everything else off if the option is there. my current laptop is dual core and not great graphics. Playing eve,it heats up to 103-104 and will shut down if i don't get it cooler quick. It also uses 85-90% of both cores. Will the above laptop 1- play two eve accounts without crashing 2- allow better than low graphics 3- not use 85-90% of all 4 cores 4- heat up less than 100 deg (I now use a cooler with current laptop)

This isn't the tech support forum.
"A forum for player created tools and applications, including those based on the EVE API."

Spec wise it should easily be able to run eve, I run eve on my macbook pro:
2,4GHz core 2 duo 4 gigs of ddr3 ram 320m graphic
As for the heat, it is hard to say unless you find someone who has the exact same laptop, as it really depends on the fans etc. But laptops do tend to get hot when playing games, so cooling pad is probably needed no matter laptop of choice.
I run eve at 70-80 degrees on my mac, I could use a cooling pad =)

Edited by: Lazarus Vex on 08/06/2011 13:55:03 Just so we can close this thread, I'll answer your question and give you my input.
Here are my thoughts.
- Will this machine work running 2 clients? Yes
- Will it get hot? That depends on the style of the case, airflow, is it on your bed or a desk. Many different factors. It's too hard to tell, look up reviews for it to see if people cite that as an issue.
Side-notes: How much are you paying for this? (It may be overpriced.) I personally am not a fan of HP pavilions because their quality has gone way down in recent years. As far as the using 85-90% of the cores... processors should be balancing the load between the cores... If you're wondering if your processor is strong enough: Yes it is.
If you would like more help, message me in game. (Or using Eve-gate if your computer is having trouble using the client.) I'll give you more help with picking the right machine if you need it.
Now everyone can stop complaining that this isn't in the right section.
Edit to not sound so pretentious
