Simple question, begging a simple answer. Obviously there's not much that can be done to change it now but I for one feel that it is a complete and utter joke that DUST 514 is being released as a PS3 exclusive. As such I set up a very simple poll (restricting one vote per computer/IP address) to see what others think. I've left out PC as an option as it was always intended that DUST 514 would be released on a gaming console.
There's multiple reasons why I think that it's a complete joke that it's being released as a PS3 exclusive, here's one or two reasons why: [*] the Xbox 360 shooter fanbase and larger console sales margin [*] the loss of up to 50million potential customers and players [*] the insecurity of the PSN network that has led to the theft and (possibly soon to be) resale of personal details (including credit card details) of PSN users. That's not even mentioning the second attack by LulzSec that only took a single injection to ascertain the data they wanted wen PSN went live again. They've now released the internal network maps of Sony BMG too. [*] the disregard by CCP that the majority of their fanbase and EVE players use a Microsoft operating system to run the EVE client, logic would follow that they would be likely to have have other Microsoft products in their household [*] failure to utilize the upcoming extension of the Microsoft Xbox LIVE gaming network to other platforms
There's plenty of reasons why and I'm sure myself, and others, could keep going with the list. Citations can be found easily, I can dig them up if needed. Keep it simple and keep the flaming to a minimum. Cast your votes! Somewhat inactive due to exams. |

I would also like to go on record saying publicly that I do not consent to any information that the CPP and/or it's subsidiaries and present affiliates hold on me to be shared with Sony BMG or any of it's subsidiary divisions. I request that if this is the case that my EVE online account be closed subject to my approval so that I may transfer/sell my character within the EULA of EVE online.
I will consider any unauthorized transfer of my data held by the CCP to Sony BMG as a breach of my legislative rights and shall file complaints with the Data Protection Commission's in the relative countries and in Europe. I will also seek legal advice and take out a lawsuit for damages if this is done without my consent, and I have no intent to consent. Somewhat inactive due to exams. |

I own both a PS3 and Xbox 360 console. I much prefer the Xbox 306's security and the Xbox LIVE network. They win over PSN in all aspects, especially the gaming fanbase.
Personally I voted both consoles, but I won't be buying DUST 514 on the PS3. I fully intended to buy it on the Xbox 360 though.
If Microsoft didn't decide to give it the green light then that's fine. This poll is just asking which you would have preferred DUST 514 to be on. I'm sure Microsoft must have had a good reason if that's the case also. Somewhat inactive due to exams. |

Pointless poll and thread as OP is clearly xbox fanatic and wants to express his feelings to rest of us. As opposed to those of us that use Sony's operating system
Disregarding of course, the fact that Sony make alot of other entertainment hardware. MP3, TVs and laptops to name but a few.

Why, yes, EVE is crying out for the legendarily fratboyish XBox demographic. And of course, no-one ever plays shooters on the PS3. (Apart from all the people who do, of course.)
Quote: [*] the loss of up to 50million potential customers and players
Uh-huh.

Because we ~trust Microsoft~, right?
Also OH NOES THE NETWORK MAPS
Quote: [*] the disregard by CCP that the majority of their fanbase and EVE players use a Microsoft operating system to run the EVE client, logic would follow that they would be likely to have have other Microsoft products in their household
I'm mostly replying to this to make note of this one, wherein you use the word "logic" so badly it should sue. Why on earth would there be any connection to using Windows as an OS for your PC and having an XBox?
"Why, yes, I am a PC gamer, and enjoy taking advantage of the complexity of gameplay and the high quality graphics a good system provides. Accordingly, I will get an XBox, with which I can play Halo, play multi-platform games only with worse graphics than the PS3 version has, and Halo."
My PS3 has sparkly kitten stickers on it. My PS3 is, therefore, better than your XBox. (If your XBox has sparkly kitten stickers on it, my PS3 is still better, partly because I'm going to play Dust on it.
Quote: [*] failure to utilize the upcoming extension of the Microsoft Xbox LIVE gaming network to other platforms
Yeah, and all Playstation's integrating with is... Steam and the Internet?
Quote: Cast your votes!
No.
Apart from anything else, the decision's already been made, dude.

Edited by: achoura on 07/06/2011 10:10:36 Microsoft has the xbox locked down completely, hence a number of titles went to the ps3. In Microsofts defence, they've never had a security issue like Sonys.
Also Microsoft runs the same business model as sky i.e. charge everything. Not only do you have to pay a subscription but developers are only allowed 1 free update a year i.e. you can only release 1 patch/update of free content once a year. After that you have to charge for a ptach/free content. This it why games like TF2 are so far behind/hardly every get patched the pc versions.
Microsofts business model isn't compatible with ccps free content/patch bugs design. In fact it's a design a lot of places are beginning to copy when based on a micro-transaction model. Valve doesn't like it either.
Basically, Microsoft has pushed itself out of the market which is a shame tbh. ***The EVE servers and their patches***

the terms and conditions have a section on ccp simply can change the terms and conditions and you get to lump it
so at the time when they want to give sony your details they can and will
you are invited to simply lump it i suggest you lump it loudly with lots of threads and tears because those things are awesome im loving the tears today im going to be aroused all day long

Im another PS3 and 360 owner and I have to say that the only reason I have a PS3 is because my wife hadnt a clue what to get me for Christmas two years ago. The only reason I wanted on was for Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid and Wipeout ... hey isnt Wipeout free as part of Sony's apology now?
I play COD, GTA, Fifa etc. on the 360.
I dont get why there's no 360 or PC version. Even Wii, I mean look at how many own those consoles.
And noooo, cross platform for gaming is not impossible.

In the US. PS is generally bigger everywhere else.

Have you seen the specs and previews/hands-on of the PS Vita yet? If not I would highly recommend it. That thing is going to be the biggest thing since afternoon tea and will easily pick up those "lost" 50M.
Originally by: JT133 the insecurity..
Far more grievous attacks have been made with significantly worse repercussions against tons of systems simply because they happened to use the sieve called MS Windoze .. If you want to deselect all the products on services that has been hacked you better pick up gardening because you are going to live on your own beets for a long time (ie. most CC companies and everything else with data has been hacked or will be hacked).

It's because CCP are releasing it on the ONLY console that can allow Dust to develop, hardware restrictions on the Wii count it out and as others have said over the top microsoft network restrictions limit it too much on the xBox 360. If anything you should be complaining to microsoft that CCP cant make the game for their console, and before anyone brings it up FFXI was on xBox but mainly due to Square brokering the deal before many of the Live restrictions came in - which is why FFXIV is on PS3. If a company that already has an mmo on the xBox can't re-negotiate the same deal what chance does CCP have?

As I understand the Online models of Sony and Micro$hit, M wants your money for simply being online and Sony doesn¦t.
Good call CCP.
As for the Sony hacks. Yah, worrying. Though if you don¦t plan on giving them money thus banking data, where¦s the problem? Apart from that, having such a drastic wake-up call on security means the computer illiterate suits will finally open the coffers to finance it properly. Just because they don¦t want to change pants again and hate being a laughing stock to the whole world. ______________ Mal-¦Appears we got here just in a nick of time.
