Cadman Weyland	Posted - 2005.02.16 08:33:00 - [9] I lost a Geddon lastnite on a mission as well..the whole spawn attacked me even though i deliberaty avoided shooting the Senty guns (even though they were lobbing cruise/torps). Got swamped by Merc frigs and Razzmatazz ships.. dunno if it was a bug or because the Boss guy was 30km from my warp in point and we started trading shoots straight away. Never try to shield and armor tank a vessel at the same time (1600 mm plates along with a L booster?). Seriously...ravens can easily solo any level 4 missions. Just fit them right and use the right tactics.

Rod Blaine	Posted - 2005.02.16 20:09:00 - [21] Well, even tho this forum isnt the best place to vent this or ask for advice as someone pointed out, that setup is indeed a crime and does deserve punishment First of all, it seems you were up against frigs and cruisers that were on top of the spawnpoint out of the acceleration gate for some reason. Did you use the right hardeners for the damage these things do ? Check their stats on Eve-I.com in the object explorer and make sure to use the right hardeners for their damage. Secondly you seem to have beenusing EM and Kinetic torps. Are these the right damage dealers against these NPC's ? If not Eve-I and use the right ones next time. Also, shieldtank that raven for thse types of missions, and dont take a geddon with you but something more usefull against smaller NPC's. Like a dominix thats also tanked and uses load of the right drones (damage type is key again, medium and heavy drones mixed work fine). Lastly, optimise your system to hold against lag. There used to be a sticky with all kinds of stuff you can do for more fps under stressy client conditions. Liek turning off sound, giving eve.exe a high priority and more, lots more. All in all, make a post in the mission forum and ask for advice there. It woudlnt have mattered what my setup was even if i had 1x XL Clarity ward 1x Thermal (shield) 1x Kinetic (shield) 2x t2 cap chargers 1x boost amp 3x PDU 2's and 2x Ballistics hell it coulda all been named officer loot the whole point behind it was for a good laugh not a good flame or anything else pvp is a totally dif animal from npc'n you take any npc setup odds are its no good for pvp though pvp setups do on occasion work for npc'n its still better to use an optimal setup for either and point of fact is once again why risk good mods id rather use for pvp npc'n? makes no sence especially in teh situation where you could have a fully tanked apoc and lose it in around the same time i lost my raven. Did i have a great setup ? hell no. Did i know my setup sucked? hell yes. am i a nub? no. where are all my sp? in combat related skills engineering<all lvl4 or lvl5> electronics<all lvl4 or lvl5> space ship command<caldari all at lvl4 or 5>mechanic<all lvl4 or lvl5> missiles <maxed except rockets and lt missiles> etc etc And oddly enough thinking about it ive lost more ships to npc'n with cheap mods then i have pvp'n ive lost around 20-30 ships pvp'n mostly frigs some cruisers in fleet battles though i cant say the same solo where ive only lost 6 ships ive lost alot more npc'n. That raven with its uber cheap setup easily tanked 5 bs and their support eg sent guns etc if i was gonna pvp it woulda been dif. I had.. 2 tracking computer IIs, 1 Cap recharger II, 1 Large Armor rep, 1 med armor rep II, 2 tech 2 damage specific energized hardners 2 damage specific active hardners, 1 heatsink 2 1 cap power relay (I think) Its a reasonable all round setup I think, all the hardners were turned on as we went in, and I still died in seconds :( The problem wasnt that we had ***ty setups particularly, it was the sheer quantity of merc wingmen. I'd given up on the mission earlier because I kept getting webbed my the wingmen and they would respawn pretty much as soon as I killed them. Made travelling the 50+km to go rescue the damsel rather slow. I left it a couple of hours and came back with omega just to mop up the frigs with torps and pick up the damsel. Unfortunatly the mercs hadnt stopped spawning all afternoon, and were on top of the warp in point. I was in armor in a big way before the scene loaded. In hind sight it was rather funny, and the sound of 50+frigs all firing identical weapons and the same time is pretty cool. I dispute that anyone could have actually survived the bug though, regardless of setup, too much damage was delt too quickly, with no chance of returning fire. edit: oh and dont ask me why xom posted in here, its a mystery to me too*

Especially when npcing? damn, put 4x shield hardeners on, 4x pduII, xl c5, 6x siege and one named heavy nosf... with decent skills you can fit that and is not really expensive setup and so far i had no problems with lvl4 missions. And i do missions mostly against angel, merc, and sansha. All this npc-s are pain for shield tank but so far i had no problems.
