I wonder if there's more like me, who "secretly" play EVE at work like 6 hours a day, and not getting much work done?
Also how much bandwith does eve use? Allthough our IT manager also plays EVE, so I doubt he will ban the access - but if EVE uses alot of bandwith it might soon not be a secret no more what I actually do when I am at work.
Scary thing is: If I get fired, I will get more time to play EVE. Win/Win!

use teamviewer to play from work and don't have it on your work machine. You can comfortably play eve with TV if you only to missions or mine.

Join one of "certain alliances", become a good FC, and your job can be playing EVE. ---

Sounds very interesting job.
Regarding bandwitch, it does not take much. I used to use my phone 3g connection to play it at times when my wireless was down. I played quite awhile and consumption was not bigger than surfing the news webs.

I play at work right now :) And i to usually play almost all the time im here.. not getting to much done (but to be fair, i do not have that much to do anyways).
EVE does not use any BW at all, no more than u used to write this post anyway
I dont engage in PVP or anything than need my full attention in case i have to do soemthing or my CEO comes by But i do PI, trading, some cleaning up and light missions for standing and such...

Okay, bandwith won't be a problem then, I guess.
And yeah, I normally do some POS fuel hauling or other practical things, that doesn't require full attention.
It's nice to have it done, so I can do some fun the 7 hours I play after work at home.
No, I'm NOT addicted...

Well, someone playing at work... It's fine as long as you'r not actually wasting time in which you should be doing something. I had a job for some time when I had weeks when I didn't have time to turn anything except the work-related stuff on, but there were weeks when 50% of the time was doing literally nothing because there were no customers. The boss didn't mind, as I didn't waste time, there was nothing to do any way.
As long as you stick to the above, I find it ok :)

Well tbh, I do get some work done as well, and probably only have enough work to fill in 2 hours a day.
Luxury I guess.
But I would still 100% certainly be fired if they found out..

I play at work all the time. I setup a virtual machine specifically for Eve and host it on my work laptop. Previously I just RDC'd to my home desktop and played from there.

Yeah I understand why. Same would go for me if they saw me reading EVE forums and things about the game, Have no idea what i would say if i was asked 'What are you doing?'
Best thing i've come up with 'In my spare time i study space and this is a place where we discuss results of space combat and motion'
If it works he should just think im a freak and walk away.

I play eve at work from a notebook, so i can watch my PC and other stuff. With a newer laptop like mine, it¦s working fine with a stable mobile internet connection. Only had a DC once in three months. Also no prob with 5 gb download, never came near to it, can also do bigger patches.
Only drawback is that i have a bit of module lagging, and i would¦nt risk a L4 on this notebook.

I play at work. If the phones aren't ringing, the boss doesn't care what we do. We watch movies, play games, browse the web. I love my job. --------------- Ron said what?! |

This is how my IT shoppe is run.
People are hired to do a job. As long as that job gets done properly, I couldn't care less what they do on their slack time, provided it isn't against the law or disruptive to my network.
People who took advantage have been sacked. This lets the rest know we are serious. No user complaints equals happy management. Happy management equals workers free to play during idle times.
Workers free to play during idle times equals happy employees who, when the call comes, put forth the extra effort.
Everyone wins.

If you can deal with being let go from a job for playing games, good on you. I'm not that type of person but then again I go to work to work not play games/goof off.

Playing EVE at work too BUT I get the job related duties finished first then take care of my serious internet spaceship business. On the weekends I get A LOT of time for EVE at work and I think of it as compensation for being at work no matter what day it is be it a celebration or weekend day.
