Make skillpoints reduce over time for unsubbed accounts. This solves the problem of people unsubscribing because of the lack of fixes or improvements to the game. ~~~

I actually think skillpoint attrition is a good idea, but you know full well that the vast majority will not agree. ;)

lol nice one!
"Don't like that we haven't fixed that 3 year old bug? Stay subscribed or we'll punish you for being an unsatisfied customer!"
Maybe.... Just maybe.... It's a long-shot.... but..... Could it be that fixing the bugs and paying attention to expansions for more then 1 week after release might just be as effective?

This is a bold and progressive concept. It might even lead to people believing this unproven concept of :excellence: that CCP refer to from time to time. ~~~

It might and will nearly guarantee no one will ever come back to EVE after leaving like going to school, getting deployed, or having less time to play from any number of issues in real life.

I going to be penalized in game because I either can't play due to RL commitments (deployed) or can't afford to play for a few months?
Thumbs down on the OP

I left for a little over 3 years, had this been their policy I would have never re-subbed.

Like this.
So you want people to ever come back and pick up where they left off? Or are you going to really just burden them with deductions when they have things in RL to do?
Or are you going to try and punish the masses incase they join another MMO, and If you come back you pay the price of attrition.
NO. Horrible idea. Players are always welcome back right where they left off, not where they started.

Here's a variation on the idea, that's just as good.
Since other MMOs encourage leveling alts as a means of keeping subs, when Eve characters get to a certain age or skill point amount, they start to get senile and start losing skills at random.
This will encourage old timers to retire their main and level up a newbie character in order to refresh their Eve Enthusiasm(tm) by experiencing the content and adventures that they might have missed out on with their main.

Let's do faction/corp standing degradation too. Have agents emailing unsubbed accounts asking 'Why you no come round here no more?'

Haha, I rather like the idea. To further improve such feature and support OP :P ...

I like the idea, but it needs some tweaking.
This Skill DecayÖ will need to work into lore somehow. My advice to add on to this would be that instead of the "highest" skill, your memory for skills would be based on the oldest learned skill.
Since most learning skills are gone, this should hit nicely with things like Electrons/Navigation/Engineering etc.
That'll teach disloyal people to remain unsubbed.

CCP could also work with Blizzard. For a fee maybe, CCP could compare email addresses of active/lapsed subscribers. So, if anyone starts playing WOW after they play EVE, their skillpoint dramatically decrease as it's assumed that the player has suffered some kind of brain damage resulting in greatly lessened intellect.

As many people leave and come back multiple times, a better money making idea would be to allow them to retroactively pay for the months they missed and get the skill points they missed out on.
Turn this off for sold characters, but for others they would have had them if they were paying while away so why not?

This was brought up by a dev in a CSM summit. The responses probably weren't printable in their original form. ~~~
