I was messing about with the CQ and after getting tired of watching the "TV screen" I just happened to notice there was no lamp associated with the light that illuminates the area around the mirror... So I started to look at the lighting throughout the rest of the quarters and noticed that there is more magic going on in these quarters (at least when it comes to lighting) then in most games that have wizzards in them.
Now, instead of typing down my findings, I threw this video together to better illustrate(and to further practice frapsing, editing and "youtubing" at the same time ).
I also noticed that there is a reflection in the floor that reflects something, but nothing that's in the room (it's in the video as well).
Knowing CCP has an attention to detail, I guess the dev (or Minmatar electritian) that was gonna install the lamps must have overslept that day

well spotted, its little things like this that make things feel wierd and make the scene unbeleivable at a subliminal level if you havent spotted it, or downright funny looking if you have spotted it. ============================ 2003 and still alive! |

Well spotted indeed, you say it's not a bug but in my eyes it is. Let me explain and any dev may correct me or any of you :P.
Look a render engine has to also render the light source, so saying that the shadows should be rendered as well on the fly. And I assume you had shadows on in your settings, so the absence of a shadow can be called a bug in the render engine.
But then again generating shadows... it's a intensive job for a computer or gfx card. Maybe CCP had to make a choice to let the shadows out for now while testing ;)... Who knows they have the answer there for us ;)
The rest, lighting vs the source I guess a oops moment or a work in progress ;)
Well spotted :)

There are more red strobing mystery lights in docking bridge area too. As someone who's done a fair bit of 3D modelling, unexplained light sources really annoy me.

Very good job. Congrats.
I have one more question. With this myriad of lights, visible and magical ones - why my avatar's face looks like it is lit by a single pinpoint flashlight like in a half of CQ ?
And yes, where is that "we are lightyears ahead of all the world" lighting hyped previously ?

Yes I noticed the strobing under the walkway to the balcony as well, and I was uncertain wether or not I should include those. I decided not to bechause there is so much details between the character and the source of the lights, that I couldn't quite figure out where they were comming from (and thus, you could reason that the strobes are in a position that you're not gonna be able to see anyways, you just see areas those lights illuminate). While the strobe by the closed door is right in your face, and yet you can't see it.
But yeah, I was aware of those lights, but decided to stick with what was "in doors"

BTW. Does anyone else get a jumping light-reflection in your characters hair if walking to the edge of the hangar balcony and standing still for a few seconds?
Video link.
Hm... time to file another bug report...
