Lol, PL thread about PL. Tbh, with PL level of metagaming and stupendous amounts of ISK they throw into the tournament, guessing who'll win it will be tough only for 2 year old child. When one side knows exactly what other side will be fielding winning is not a question. |

Edited by: Lady Go Diveher on 12/06/2011 18:34:18 PL did ECM, and they did it well. Barely a Jam missed (saw one rook take minor damage).
Anyone who thinks this is really easy to do ... should perhaps try it and win?

because one team winning all the time is boring and metagaming sucks. It's like playing a poker with a someone that knows all your cards.

ECM is not "I win" button always. We saw today good counter ECM drone fleet.
Nobody tried something like that against PL.

Do you really think PL will field ECM setup when the other side will be fielding a good anti-ECM setup?

So your saying that the team that spends all its time preparing should lose to the team that just woke up this morning and flew whatever just because you like variety?

I think the chances of PL not meta gaming, would be about as low as Hydra not knowing what UK was going to field before UK knew.

Nothing against preparing to the tournament. But metagaming difficulty is hugely overrated. It's just a question of how low do you want to go to win in a spaceshipz game. After you pass a certain threshold of SP and have a good PvP record you can get accepted into every alliance. After that - stay there for a long time, splash ISK for the corp, etc etc. My main was invited to PL at one point, I've decided not to apply after I saw that you have to give up a lot of RL info about yourself to get there. So, winning by metagaming is nothing special - it's just a matter of wether do you treat the game as a game or as something you want to betray ppl for. IMHO we have enough dirty ****, backstabbing, intrigues and stuff, all that "powerstruggle" in RL to bring it to Eve. I have too much of it going to work every day, that's why I hate it in Eve.

Or, you know, maybe you shouldn't tell everyone in your alliance what you are fielding so PL spies can't get the information? Maybe limit it to the tournament team only?
I really don't get the metagaming whines. Escpecially in the alliance tournament where only the pilots that participate need to know which setups are being fielded.

Confirming we are collecting RL info on players so our kneecapcrush hitteam can locate you when you steal the drone hangar. We cover atm all parts of the world besides inner mongolia. Offenders will ducktaped to a chair and have to listen to tape recordings of MrRive "we are loosing tengues". while getting beat up with a baseball bat.
