i can fly a golem and a varg and i'll say straight up that neither are worth it. if you already have marauder 5 then fine, but if i had it to do over again i never would have bothered training them. i make more per hour with a mach or a nightmare.
if any noobs read this, dont' bother. stick with a pirate bs and a noctis

I have a corpmate who flies a Golem. I find I can outrun him in my Apocalypse Navy Issue + noctis.
If I'm planning to run missions for two hours, I'll just spend the first 90 minutes running them and bookmarking wrecks. After I've cleared as many missions as I can in that time, I grab my noctis and hit all the mission sites, one after another. If I hit a full hold, I dump a jetcan which I can then pick up with a hauler. I'm finishing 1 or 2 more missions than him ever hour on average because I don't loiter my battleship to finish looting.
Do I worry about ninjas? Sure. I've lost loot to them a few times. But this method gets me through the missions so much faster that I can accept the losses.

mach because it is more agile it will get to mission sooner because it will align faster, get to gate faster.
mach because it have more gun dps, have bigger drone bay(even more dps) have enough tank and tracking and most important can be fitted with more falloff.
it look cooler it is huge for class it have low sig rad, and it will not be jammed with single light ecm drone if you ever decide to kill someone with it,it can use ALL minmatar weapon systems as well.
oh ... vargur is awesome as well firstly it is tempest model, low ammo usage is nice it does have bigger tank i just find it to much imho.i don't salvage so i cant say anything on that subject.

I still really like marauders. They do great dps, they're easy on the tank (wich makes mission relaxing) and you can gain extra isk by looting ships while shooting, and do some optional salvaging.
Also, ships like the paladin are great for running incursions. And dont forget that AWU5 is always useful.

Well training for Marauders also means that you pretty much trained the most time consuming skills to get into caps. I personally wouldn't bother with marauder V however.
For Carriers and Dreadnoughts BS V and AWU V (siege modules) are a requirement. If you want to use Triage (Logistics V) is needed.

Just to be clear, this is -not- in any way/shape/form an argument for marauders. Just because you need it to pilot marauders, does not mean you wouldn't train it otherwise. I had AWU V long before I bothered training marauders.
I'd go on to restate my take on marauders, but you can find those opinions on page one.

Thanks for this post. I've been debating between getting a Paladin or a Navy Issued Geddon and a Noctis. Seems that most are saying the latter. ________________________________________________ May the Force be with you. |

Make that Paladin + Noctis. Dont forget that an advantage of the Paladin is that you can make compact wreck orbs wich you can quickly salvage with your noctis. Salvaging is worth it in only a few missions anyway. Btw the Navy Geddon doesnt come anywhere near the paladin effectiveness for missioning.

Why wouldn't the navy geddon be as effective? Compared to the abbadon I use today it looks pretty damn good. ________________________________________________ May the Force be with you. |

Because a paladin does much more dps at long range, wich is important for missioning.

On aligning this only applies on station kick out as you should always align out of your mission pocket when on the last enemy. For motoring around in large mission areas then a Mach is a bit faster.
On drones then not so important as Machs fly around faster than their heavy drones. Sentries don't count. Better falloff but Gall BSV is a ***** to train as much as marauder V. Sig tanking is better but Mach has better speed tanking too. Vargs have better tracking built in, move slower so need less tracking.
Mach's look pretty damn awesome but I'm not aware of a ban on Artillery Vargs.
