Too bad we can't have polls on this forum. I'm really curious how many people would rather start anew. If even quite a lot of vets would welcome the idea ..

I'm sure alot of people would jump on the "let's start Day 1 again" bandwagon... but most of them would only do it if CCP was going to give them some free game time, or a small bankroll to get started...and I don't mean 5,000 ISK, either. Add a few zeroes.
Otherwise, they'd just quit.
I say this because alot of NEW people who get into the game (alot, not everyone) get into it with a friend who gives them some ISK, a few small ships, some sort of "boost" to get them started.
Mining in a noob frigate for 14 days doesn't interest many people, and I'm quite sure that's NOT how most people would want to start "Day 1". Again.

It would be time to stop playing EVE permanently and wait for Star Wars KOTOR.

No way would I start clean again - it's taken me years to get my main and my alts to where they are! If CCP ever jettisoned their brains and did this I'd cancel my sub 60 seconds later, max.

Edited by: Shintai on 15/06/2011 11:43:04 First 3 months of EvE was a blast.
Start over today makes no sense with characters alone.
Too many, too much crap expansions. So it wouldnt different than today.
In short, lots of drama, no effect. If you seek some golden solutions for new players or something. It wont happen.
I played eve now for over 8 years. And I would love to get the first 3 months back. But it would require alot less people too besides removal of expansions.
Problem with EvE like so many other games is the fun factor gets watered down in expansions.
Some would say I just miss the griefing times back then ;)

While I think that Lulzsec should be imprisoned for their activities, I believe I'd get over it and enjoy a better EVE after.

I have to admit that I'd play. It would really be interesting to see the community reacting to a complete shake-up of everything they know. It'd be quite a mess... PI would stop for a bit, w-space would be chaotic, the markets would be shattered... the ultimate tear-bath I'd think.
It would be worth seeing how things shook out in the new world order.

Oh please dont make me dream.
The game would be cleaned of most carebears whom purpose in game is to farm isk and assets, and the game would have only true pvpers left, those who dont care to fight in a rifter or in a battleship. A world without capital ships for a while, without supers..
Thats a dream you're talking about.
Eve is turning **** because of its age. Screw supers, screw high SP (i have over 100m and i dont care i could have fun with 10m), and viva real game, real pvp, without capital and supercapitals ships, just gameplay, pvp skill left.
What a treat to think about it.

Remember there was a time frigates were most common ships used in pvp, having a bc made you be a boss, and having a BS made you be God in a roam.
This was a fun time for pvp.
And then time passed, people got skilled, and most of all... capitals ships were introduced. And when supercapital were introduced, part of me already knew we'd come to the situation of today: the game sucks because of supercap swarms.
Oh well i'm sure this situation in a treat for brainless russians and american but not for people who always thought about eve as direct fun, not long term empire building that would screw the fun out of the game.

I agree (super)caps were one of CCP's dumbest decisions ever. Suddenly the gap between players became HUGE and it rendered almost all the other ships useless in sov warfare.
EVE suddenly became the "No supercaps, no glory" game.
Lets' start again and remove supercap BPs.

I would welcome the idea. It proves to be quite hard to catch up with the heatens in their powerful ships. It definitely does not make my work any easier.

THAT scenario is highly unlikely to EVER happen. Regular backup schedules, most likely off-site backups at least every now and then, offline backups almost certainly galore, at worst, you'd be losing a few days/weeks of work even if the TQ cluster would get wiped clean. However, let's say that for some reason, it did happen, and it WASN'T CCP's fault, and it wasn't something they could have prevented with realistically sensible security measures (I don't know, say, some crazy enough group to fool everybody infiltrating them and all their backup storage locations and physically destroyed every last bit of usable data everywhere, in all locations at the same time), that's the only reason I would even CONSIDER it.
Now, the main reason for me still having an active account is that I am filthy rich in ISK so I can keep it subbed until after I will most likely die in real-life of old age, and considering that I seldom find the time to actively play much EVE anymore (other than the forums), it would be relatively safe to assume that I would most likely just say "screw it" and not bother anymore.
There's still a possibility I would start from scratch though. Afterall, this time around, I would be uniquely well suited (knowledge-wise) to exploit the hell out of everybody else, especially the clueless fresh meat grinding away at the grindy parts, happy that "they have a chance to be among the elite" (they won't, that's not how you make cash, neither in RL nor in EVE). That might just about be entertaining enough to give it a shot. _

You never will. Too much changed during the time in between and Eve will never be "new" again, even with a server reset.
What I remember of May-December 2003 was no docs on how anything worked, no stacking, no tracking, no agents, not much of anything really. The Eve universe (development-wise) grew as players did.
Although 8 years and no bloody Jove is taking the proverbial

Mea cupla.. you might find it funny (well, I do anyway) that for "it is loose" in German you get: "es it lose". Thus you get so many people on these forums (quite a lot from good old Germany, say hi to the camera) that mix-up loose and lose.
Nevertheless, thanks for the pointer, I'll try my best to not mix it up again.

For 3-4 weeks, then it is all Drake Gangs all the time.
Then Alpha Mealstroms with in 2 months and finally at 4 months T2 Logi comes into the picture. About a year before the first Bot Raven Farmed Super Carriers start pulling up.
Welcome back to reality don't blink or you will miss it.
