What do you guys think would happen if some how the database got hacked destroying all the current user information. Minerals, modules, player owned structures, ships, and skill points, all gone over night. Would you still play if you had to start over brand new, on a new server?

It would be the most stupid thing if CCP would not have daily backups. I know they are very low on the organization scale but this would be too much even for them.

I know one thing, if this did happen I would not waste all those skill points on useless stuff, you know the ones you all placed in stupid spots when you were a newb

Lmao if they don't have backups, I think whatever they do would have to involve SP's and plexes.
Iuno about you guys....but I'm gonna go ahead and make a backup of the user file of every external API program I use just incase I need proof.

About database hacked....
I fueled my POS few days ago for full and today it is offline without fuel. In time of adding new fuel i was 2 days to empty fuel. What the f...? I don't know but in this POS i have stuff for many many many bilions and CCP must do somethink with this.
My POS don't get standard 21 day fuel in 3 days lol.

TQ may try to play "clean slate" but it wouldn't last more than a month or so.

Nobody is going to start off building up an "economy" again, it was bad enough the first time around but at least it was new. No economy = dead game, just look at the Chinese server for evidence of that.
Oh I daresay some of the newer players may give it a go, but pretty much everyone that's been playing a couple of years wouldn't bother logging in more than once or twice.

You'd lose probably a third of the people, who really only continue because they are invested in the time, lose all they have they'll move on.
What remains will include some competent people. It won't play out like the years on Tranq have so far as the rules are different. It will be much faster and much more brutal to get to about the same position the galaxy is in now. The tactics etc are already known. You just have to take the time to skill up the character.

Single best thing that could ever happen to EVE.
Sure, a handful of veterans may leave but tens of thousands of new players that know the game but are bored of the fixed situation and supremacy of the bittervets would subscribe.
Let's see if your experience and player skill really matter that much ...

If the server was reset I'd buy a year's sub. Nothing is forever and it would be awesome to wipe it all and start over. 390m sp over many accounts and gazillions of isk gone? Fun!

Hm.. thinking about it might not be the end of the world. Sure, you'd loose a big chunk of the current population and CCP might went belly up in the aftermath of this (imagine loosing 20-30% of your income).
Anyway.. if you think you'd end up leading an alliance in nullsec or being the next Chribba or something along those lines.. forget it.
Either you're a nerd who regards Eve as his hobby No1 and then you don't have the 'problem of the OP' or you don't.
So in essence, you'd still be owned and there would still be blobs and there would still be OP FOTM ships/fits.

NO I honestly wouldn't try starting over again.
Hell even if it was just losing all my characters (rest of eve survived) I wouldn't bother restarting.

I'be be all for restarting. It seems nice to start from scratch and I'm sure a lot of people would love it. 0.0 will be wilderness again. No T2 BPOs. No supercap hotdrops. Not even Jita!

The amount of time it takes the bittervets to get bored of trying / succeeding to school the Chinese is about the amount of time a virgin server would last.
