We are up to 2 hours so far.... 19:00. And to think all this so that some dork can oogle his female character in a station. Honestly is anyone really excited about tooling around a station when you can leave the station and PVP?

Quote: So what's the TL;DR?
We're going to start selling vanity items for a new currency called Aurum (which is created from PLEX). We hope you enjoy it but, if you don't, you're in no way forced to take part in it. This will launch within the next couple of months.
More exact details on items for sale, conversion from PLEX to AUR and item pricing will be coming soon.
I love how they say we are in no way forced to take part....when the reality we are forced to take part because it is part of the "sandbox", and those of us that don't want to take part in dressing our dolls are sitting here not playing eve because you are forcing doll dressing on all of us. Whether we take part or not is irrelevant, it impacts the game, and therefore impacts everybody playing the game. If you want to go dress dolls buy a barbie game.

Edited by: DiscomBoBulate on 21/06/2011 17:13:57 Boy if I hit deadlines like these guys in my job I would be fired....so who is CCP going to fire? Oh wait they aren't losing any money. We are all still paying them to take their time.
However, if you are going to fire someone, then can I nominate GM Horse - he's a Horse's backside.

And it is actually pretty logical. I am paying for play time. Due to CCP failure we are unable to play for a period of time that we paid for. In the real world if I give you money and you don't deliver a satisfactory good or service you refund the money. Please explain to me why that shouldn't apply to CCP?

AH Hmm - I don't recall asking for this (or wanting it either)
Since when is CCP worried about giving their customers what they want? Basically they have a group of people that think of things to keep themselves busy (while avoiding the main issues in the game....like lag). These people have a vision of eve that is very different from the average player.

Independent of you asking for it, you agreed to it. Section 10, topic D, subsection iii of your EULA you agreed to in order to play the game.

And to you I would like to point out the earlier mentioned entry in combination with section 12, paragraph 3. Yes you have paid for play time, but obviously written in the EULA it indicates that th eservice is available most of the time and states that it will not always be available. If you feel you are not getting your money's worth you are free to stop playing. People really need to understand what they agree to and stop whining.
So when your boss tells you that he "expects" you to finish a project by a certain deadline and you don't what usually happens? When a construction project is expected to finish by a certain date and doesn't what happens? When you are expected to show up in court for not paying your child support and you don't show up what happens? (I know you have issues with this). There are consequences when you fail to meet expectations. Please tell me what is the result of failed expectations with this game?

Originally by: Broomide The features to dress up your char. Hey wel If you dont like the option to change into New clothes. Dont !! And just move along playing eve like you always did.
Im exited where this is taking eve. And since if first logged on I wanted to see and walk around in the station. It will give eve new perspective.
Go CCP
Just because you like to dress/undress excessorize dolls doesn't mean that everyone wants to. Seriously what is so cool about putting different cloths on your character? If you wanted to walk around a station play a first person shooter.

Well if you take it that way... I suppose you can "do other stuff" besides waiting. Then it makes it more of a choice, doesnt it. Stay here and wait,, or do other stuff.
I'd like to play EVE, I'm paying for this time. we are approximately 15 hours past "normal" downtime, and nearly 5 hours past the original posted completion time. I don't think I'm being unreasonable questioning what is taking so long? Yet I am compelled to sit here and wait for something only a minority of eve players even care about.

Hey... I have an idea then...why don't we all just get forced to pay for the 15 FREE expansions that EVE has provided over the years...I think a lost day doesnt add up to the 30-40 bucks games like Warcraft make you pay for theirs...
Just sayin...but I like the free aspect of it all...it shows commitment, not to mention don't you think that they would all love to go home and rest like the rest of the business world instead of working solid?
Ok, at $15 per month for eve in approximately 3 months you would have enough to buy a $50 new release game. So you would be buying a minimum of 3 new games a year, we have what 1 expansion a year?.....somehow that math doesn't seem to add up for me. How is this free again?

What you have not seemed to grasp is that you do not have control of CCP at all. You are the one that agreed to their terms, not the other way around. As such, you can be as angry as you feel justified, but it will not make a single difference because you are bound to that agreement whether to read it or not. You scrolled to the bottom and clicked accept. Therefore, you can either accept the delay or move on to another game.
Ah ha, actually I do have control over CCP...let me introduce you to the power of the people. Watch this...

Well, Im paying 11 for starters, nad EVERY MMO game has issues at times = downtime. These EVE updates are FREE as we do not pay for them...and even in your scenario at 15 bucks a month with a full day of lost time... you are out a whopping 50 cents....and again using your scenario, buying a 50 dollar game at a financial loss rate of 50 cents per day...it would take you 8.3 years to save up for that...have fun man!
You only forgot one thing...My time is billed out at $450 an hour, so 6 hours of my time when I would have been available to play their game and they were unable to comply with their end of the agreement that to me is $2700. That's alot of $50 dollar games :smug:

The Alliance Tournament is a prime example of how little control CCP has over their game. meta-gaming lol.

Originally by: Scally Dog Come on guys, give CCP a break.. Like Torfi said it's like changing an engine on a car while its doing 200 around a track - the biggest update EVE has ever seen since it's release and no matter how much they can try it on the test servers, Tranquility server is very different. If they get something wrong it could end up completely screwing things up and u might be waiting much longer than a few hours of extended downtime.
Yes it is exactly like that....except the car is sitting still...and not running, and the person working on the engine is the person who designed and built the car. He supposedly has intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the motor...so yeah it's excatly like that execpt for those few things.

20 people in forum multiplied by 50 people per person in forum is 1,000 people. 1,000 people times $15 per month is $15,000.
What you are forgetting is that there are only actually 1000 people that play EVE, all the rest of the characters are simply alts.

Thanks for the awesome universe you provide. I'm very much looking forward to trying this new build. Ignore these silly comments that seem to think they are somehow entitled to more than you already supply.
I have been playing online games and MMOs for around 15 years now and never has a development company impressed as you do. Not one.
So DT went into overtime? Everyone with half a brain had already accepted the possibility and prepared accordingly. As for the rest. Please do not compensate their infuriating, unjust and undeserved sense of entitlement. You will serve them better in the long run by helping them to learn.
I totally agree !! gotta love the devs who are still working over there !!
it is their job. They get paid to do it. And from what I have seen they aren't doing a very good job of doing their job.
