(Quick note: CIC = Combat Information Centre, the EWAR and battle overview room on a modern seaborne warship)
So I was sitting in a station, bored, in a war fleet (there is a strategy to this. But telling would be silly), and thinking about how CQs will make doing that sort of thing less boring. I came up with CIC Mode.
- When you're in a fleet, the CQ has panels slide down over the usual walls. These walls would be printed with your corp/alliance logo or racial logo, or something like that. - The new walls have a more combat-oriented feel; maybe dark grey, with an overall darker feel to the room, with only screens and race-coloured highlights for lighting. - The new walls have screens on, arranged for ease of use in combat...a full-wall bank for important info, with smaller panels around it? - New screens include: Fleet chat, member locations (system, or more specific if in the same system as you), current fitting, fleet overview, fleet event/broadcast history...perhaps if you're FC, you get the option to view one fleet member's HUD on one of the big screens? There could be a skill to allow this. - There is the option to change the hologram of your current ship to a holo-map of your current region, with fleet-member locations highlighted.
Thoughts?
If anyone feels like doing a concept-art of this, that'd be appreciated.

I think a war-room is somewhere on the to do list for Incarna, at least it was suggested multiple times

A long time ago they were talking about having holographic style displays in the board room of corporate offices to display tactical maps.
Given that war is a mainly a corporate activities it would make sense for a CIC to be part of the office or a dedicated room that you can rant in a station (so you don't have to have an office at a suitable station.
It would be a nice addition to the game, especially if CCP produce some modules or probes that can be set to shunt data directly to the CIC so you get real time data without having to use alts or tie up comms. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

Just had a thought- DUST 514 integration. A CIC-mode CQ (or dedicated CIC if that's how it's done) could have a secondary screen showing the status of friendly DUST players (i.e. current planet/location, whether they're in combat or not).

It would be useful, I think, if CQ switched to an optional 'alert state' when in times of war.
- Pulsing red lights. - Projectors on walls/additional pop out screens showing war info (latest engagments etc) - Audio chatter.
Mostly as an aesthetic improvement but it would be nice to not have to bother checking the corp war tab upon log in when wars are coming and going...
Could even change to yellow lighting once wars have been retracted/haven't started yet.
