As a former combat veteran I know the hardships and seperation and being away from family.. Your loss is both a blow to this community and to your family and friends.. I feel proud and humbled to know that the man who in game was my sworn enemy was still fighting and serving for freedom and democracy for our country and that sadly, in the end he paid the ultimate sacrafice.. That this community can transcend the boundries we set up in game against each other and to come together in grieving... Wherever you are Sean, I hope the mortal hold of pain and suffering of this world does not have a grip on you, and that the eve community and your friends and family will never forget your contributions both in and out of this game. Wherever you are I hope you are at peace...

I met Vile Rat a couple of times in game...never on the same side of the gun but he was a good man none the less. He was an influential figure in EVE. Very much so. Seemed like a really good guy and I am sure he was. He will be missed by many in EVE.

Vile-rat liked a few of my posts just hours before he died. It feels weird. I'd played with the man a few times, seen him in jabber all the time, and now he's gone, and it feels weird. It's saddening and surreal.
You know I woke up today and heard the embassy news, and I said out loud, "This really sucks but it doesn't affect me much, I just hope we don't go to war again over this." And then I find out Vile Rat was among the dead and I just don't know... |

What is the point if every race has an Jam/Damp/Disruptor/ ship etc? Not every race has to be a fluffy little mirror of each other, it's seriously not needed. Things like Gallente having the only drone BS and Caldari having the only ECM BS are incredibly cool distinctions that only add to EVE in both game play value and flavour. |

We need a memorial on the undock of the VFK station.
This man was important to the alliance and the CFC as a whole. He was also a CSM and worked hard to improve eve.
I also suggest a PLEX drive to raise money for his family. |

I am seriously having trouble concentrating at work. I met him in passing once, as you said barely knew him, but always remembered the name from that short encounter. I also work in IT and all I can think about is how frustrated I get with people in the office for stupid things when it comes to computers, and him having to deal with something similar (though far more advanced) and the looming constant threat as well.
Vile may have contributed immensely to EVE, but supporting international peaceful interests by far outshines his EVE career. I always had an appreciation for the Goon mentality, enjoying the game to the fullest whether is frowned upon or not, and Vile was enjoyment incarnate.

Oldma, Dibrle, and all of IRC joins the entire Eve Community in mourning the loss of a fine and honorable member of our community. Dibrle and Oldma have both personally dealt with Vile Rat on a number of occasions, beginning in 2007, and have always had the greatest respect for him. Indeed, his family even hails from Mandeville, Louisiana, just across the Causeway from my home in Metairie. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family, as well as the entire Eve community, over this loss. He will be missed.
