Edited by: Ghostwind on 21/06/2011 22:32:24 I am still waiting for the last day to be uploaded on youtube, but I have always thought a pvp tournament was about proving yourself as a pvp'er. If the standard from Eve-online is win at all costs, then it will be reflected that way.
I am kind of old-school in my approach, and things like honor, ethics and morale has some value to me. Despite how things can be used within the sandbox that is eve. If I accept a dual, then I don't bring my mates s a backup. I don't value winning at all costs as a merit in itself. If you are using the tournament to give a big hello to all your buddies across alliances, then do it within Eve, and not the tournament. A tournament in my eyes should reflect who deserved to go through, and to win, because they were the best on the field.
But to each his or her own. From what I have seen so far, Outbreak did well, and have always thought they were pretty good pvp'ers, back from the days when they were Battleangels. I didn't like the ways of selfdestructing against Razor, when they were outclassing them. Just like I didn't like that Austria and Germany passed to each other for 90 mins in 1982 world cup in football to insure that Germany could progress from group stages at the cost of Algeria, who had beaten Germany.
Some like these things others do not. And I do not. And therefore I give my take on it. If people want to win at all costs, just like they do within the Eve-online realm, then we don't need a tournament, and the scope of eve-online is sufficient as is. No need to televise it.
I do hope to see some good matches none the less, but I can understand that yet another final has disappointed - and ... for reasons that does not reflect, we won because we were the best team, and we did so without trying to gain an edge beforehand or did favors or gained for/from someone else on our way.
But I can't say it was an eye-opener to hear the news of this tournament final.
Last but not least, if people say it is merely internet pixels, and shouldn't be taken seriously, why do people train for it, in hope of gaining, if nothing else - internet pixel money, and pixel ships. All that is left is their code of conduct - or lack thereof.
