In the recent dev blog it says that the Caracal is going to be a fast attack cruiser and the moa a brawler.....
These roles are backwards Caracal should be the brawler and Moa the attack cruiser.
You guys also seem to have the Vexor and Throax confused. |

Nope.
Caracal has never been particularly fast, and it can't kite very well. It was always better at lobbing missiles from a safe distance. Moa has typically been used with blasters to fight close range.
So CCP has ignored the way people actually use these ships.
Also, how the hell do you expect me to believe the Thorax is a lighter cruiser than a Vexor? |

Because the Moa has to go faster. Therefore the Moa is the fast attack cruiser. |

He's also the brawler. They mostly just applied a false label on the Caracal. Going in the thick of battle is brawling. Thats what the Moa does. The Caracal in a brawl is a soon to be lost ship. |

You are talking nonsense i am afraid. Caracal has always been used as a kite. Its very weapon type is suited to it (missiles don't care how fast the ship firing them is travelling). All ccp want to do is make it better at what it is used for on tq (kiting). Using a caracal as a brawler loses its main advantage, that is being able to do full damage at distance while travelling at speed. It will get eaten alive by turret brawlers.
With the Moa they say they don't know whether to make it better at what the designed it for (sniping) or for what people mainly use it for (brawling). they haven't decided yet. It would make no sense as an attack cruiser unless it was completely redesigned (maybe keep rails and give it a big tracking bonus or something?)
Thorax needs to be fast because its a blaster boat. I guess ccp want to make it lighter so making it faster doesn't make it op, i do have my doubts.
Vexor has always been used as a brawler thanks to having the highest dps potential of any t1 cruiser. Of course thanks to using drones it was also very versatile so people use it has a kite or a brick or pretty much anything they want. |

But the Caracal is not fast. It is not agile.
How the hell do we get away with calling it a Fast Attack Cruiser?! The moa is a much better choice here. |

Caracal is faster than the Moa. Caracal is more agile than the Moa. THAT is how they get away with calling it a Fast Attack Cruiser.
Moa is slower. Moa is less agile. Moa has a shield resist bonus. THAT is how they get away with calling it a Brawler.
Understand now?

Base speed + 10mn mwd gets the Caracal to 1387m/s and Moa to 1354m/s.
But the Moa has twice as many low slots, so the Moa has a higher top speed. |

EFT says Moa has an absolute advantage in top speed. Fill all slots and rigs with speed stuff.

You're doing it wrong.
Moa - Base Speed = 164ms w/ 10mn MWD = 1273ms w/ 4x Overdrive + Rigs = 1779ms w/ All + Heat = 2525ms
Caracal - Base Speed = 178ms w/ 10mn MWD = 1387ms w/ 2x Overdrive + Rigs = 1853ms w/ All + Heat = 2631ms
In each and every scenario, with or without rigs or heat, the Caracal is faster. These are EFT numbers confirmed with Pyfa. |

Not to mention that as a brawling ship the moa needs to devote it's lowslots to tank and damage mods to stay even somewhat close to other ships in the class, while the caracal is pretty free to chose between speed or DPS.

Moa looks like a brick ("beautifully sleek" was a joke, get it!?) Caracal looks like a hydroplane boat. ("We want to clearly revamp these four ships to be dedicated to speed and damage.") It does not matter what you want, or how you used the old broken cruisers. That's how they will be molded in the rebalance. |
