I support this post, CCP freaking kicks butt =) In this patch they fixed a long-running exploit, brought us new content, and have laid the groundwork to get those idiots hiding in wormholes back into null-sec. =)

I for one will love to see the outcome of all these people praising ccp for this piece of **** 'upgrade' when they're forced into CQ every time they dock.. especially out in null when sometimes getting in and switching ships quick can matter a lot.

I`m not quite cumming in my pants excited, but it is an exciting direction. I don`t care how long downtime is, or what features I`m not gonna like, I have other things to get on with, I adapt. And to all the haters, we get these expansions for FREE. We never have to go out and buy expansions, unless they render our PCs/Macs defunct and update something that requires more up to date hardware. But in the long run that is a benefit overall, not just to playing Eve. CCP make the effort to give us what we ask for, and I`m sure, like alot of other MMOs, we`ll get the haters. We chose to play this game, and pay monthly for it, and we get a growing team of Devs who are out to make out worlds better. I`ll happily thank CCP, for their work, their creativeness, and putting up with our whining, moaning, flaming, adoration, ass kissing, and those that choose to be ignorant to the work they put in and never say anything.

This is exactly what I think the OP means by free and also the reason I really respect what CCP is attempting to do. Sure, not all expansions they release are perfect, and I'm sure many people will be unhappy with the Incarna expansion. But, unlike almost every other MMO on the market, CCP does this with no extra cost for the expansion. They actually put your subscription fee to use. Furthermore, they release expansions every six months. Now, in some cases, this can be seen as a negative point as the expansion may not be in working order before that six month duration, but it's admirable. Anyway, they are attempting to remake a game. I'm patient, and I believe in the future Incarna will grow and get much better. Here's to hope for the future.

The challenge is in doing so on top of an internet spaceships game. The hard work was in the underlying code changes that enables all this to happen. Hint; read the previous patch notes. Personally, I think this will draw in a whole new raft of players - which is good for everyone. I have played quite a few MMO, and while "new features" are always welcomed with open hostility from the forum trolls, I do find that Eve is pretty new player unfriendly. And players want to keep it that way. If you don't get new players, then the game (you presumably love) will diminish and die. I have seen this in DAoC, WAR, and LoTR; which was a shame as they are all great games. In fact I'm of the opinion people that play WoW are a bit simple for that very reason. You know the type of people that watch big brother or some other reality tv crap thats being spoon feed to them.

I'm sure reading the threads of these idiots who refuse to educate themselves (ie: the entire rework of incarna in early...09 i think? after the previous build was deemed inefficient for future additions) and getting it to this point so quickly. I'm sure your pipelines are stuffed full of great mini-expansions throughout the year like we saw with Incursion. Game is amazing. Company even better. Can't wait for CQ and this following year. Keep it up!

It isn't a finished product, and won't be for a long time. That's kind of what happens when a developer pushes so many boundaries like this. The DUST 514 idea will be a (literally) unprecedented piece of programming. That said, I think that we should enter the station to the old hangar view and then be able to transition to the CQ. It makes far more sense given that a pod pilot is basically naked in a vat of goo while flying - a pod isn't something you get in and out of regularly. Of course, the long CQ load times may be intended to emphasize that fact. ^_^

The nature of non-trivial software development means that a lot of the work for this release will be unseen. It's like an iceberg, the core infrastructure makes up 80% of the work involved in getting this "single room" out of the door. To trivialise the release to say it took them 3 years to get the room out is so lame it's beyond belief. It's a bit like criticising BWM for spending 4 years to get "one car out of the factory" even though they showed off the concept at a motor show 3 years ago. Anyway, I'm posting here to send a big thank you to everybody at CCP for this. Those of us who work in the industry appreciate that what you're doing is not easy and that the issues you might face today and tomorrow are mere blips compared to the mass of work that was undertaken to get to this point.
