Edited by: Tippia on 21/06/2011 23:27:50 Login works for me, but then I didn't download the update patch either (because the download failed when EVE tried)à and this issue was reported on Sisi two weeks ago.
On the other hand, EVE is still using the wrong directory for its preferences (~/Library/Application Support instead of ~/Library/Preferences) and it still ignores the preferences path given in its info.plist. àand those were reported on Sisi a month ago.
So that's four issues, and before wasting my bandwidth, I'd like to know if downloading the full client will actually address them:- Login doesn't work (for some)
- Update patch cannot be downloaded
- The wrong preferences path is used.
- The info.plist is ignored.

Originally by: CCP Zymurgist The Mac patch is currently being tested but we do not currently have an ETA on when it will be done but we will let you know as soon as it is available. Our current work around is to download the full client.
àand before doing that, I still want to know: will that full build fix all four issues previously mentioned? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Originally by: GuidoCom as of five minutes ago, a new patch has been posted for mac. this might be fixed.

àbut many people will be looking for a 271273 (borked) to 271273 (fixed) patch, so that doesn't help much. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Originally by: Wurrp Maybe all this is happening because not enough mac users were on the test server?
All of these problems (except for download issues and broken patch files, since that's a CDN issue) were observed and reported on Sisi.
No, the problem is that they don't respond to test server feedback. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

àyou know what?
I might just zip up my EVE.app on my Air and distribute it since it (amazingly) does not seem to exhibit any of the issues reported. Most likely it's because I didn't install the optional update when it was first offered to me (or, rather, I couldn't install it because the download failed).
Password field works. Right-click works. No idea if CQ works becauseà wellà it's on an Air and I haven't turned CQ on for obvious reasons.
In fact, CCP ù if you want to bughunt, look through what the optional update did and, you know, don't do that, because it seems most of the problems come from that update rather than from the base build. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Fixed link for the aforementioned fix to the patch.
That's a good sign, isn't ità ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Originally by: Lord Douchebag WHERE have my preference files gone? I'd like to import some overview settings, but can't find them.
Known bug. Was reported on Sisi a month ago.
The EVE client now creates its preferences directory in ~/Library/Application Support/EVE Online rather than in ~/Library/Preferences/[Whatever info.plist tells it to], and it completely ignores the setting in its info.plist that tells it otherwise. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Here's my "brute force" approach to get the ****er client running at least:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1533318
To put this in perspective, I am probably one of the most trouble-free OSX client users ever.
I never get broken files. I always manage to patch the client. None of the more complicated problems in this thread affect me (aside from the ones listed on page 1). I've always had good performance before this patch, in spite of what others may report, and I get good performance in this patch. I even get decent performance in CQ when I have it turned on. I think my Quafe t-shirt looks very snazzy. I never seem to get bitten by the nasty bugs some people report. Hell, I can play the game semi-acceptably on my MB Air. I am, in short, the best-case scenarioà
àand I managed to find and report every last one of the core issues with this patch during the Sisi testing. The best-case scenario made these bugs brutally and blatantly obvious. There is quite literally no excuse for CCP not having known and not having addressed them before launch. Yes, sometimes things don't show up and cannot be reproduced during internal testing, but again: I am apparently a best-case scenarioà the only way for these things not to show up during internal testing is if no internal testing took place.
So I don't think there is a development group to fire.
Originally by: da go The problem is that the EvE client itself should manage the cache and other files it creates expecting multiple running instances, but it does not. It's a problem of interaction between EVE and cider, not a problem of cider or a problem of eve. Not the first time this kind of problems surface. In the past it took them a couple of months after deployment to fix up.
Ok, fair enough, but I'm still questioning why it makes sense. Will Lion do away with the Preference directory, and if not, why shouldn't this stuff go in there? And why should the client ignore its own plist? And why should it not be able to use multiple preference sets for multiple instances? Andà so onà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

It's a SM3.0-capable chip, so it should be supported.
It probably counts as "below minimum spec", though, but I'm not up to snuff on the ATI naming conventions, so I could be wrong about that.

Originally by: Caxie For those of you having trouble with multiple clients with Incarna I figured out that you just have to change the string under the key CFBundleName in the Info.plist file.
I have a screencast available for those that are more visual at: Incarna Multi-Client for Mac.
