Hundreds of monocles seems unlikely, but we can still use monocles as a unit of wealth. Like the way we sometimes describe quantities of data in units of "Libraries of Congress."
The story reads: "In the largest corp theft in the history of EVE, Guiding Hand Social Club steals or destroys 28 monocles worth of assets from one of EVE's most powerful alliances."

OP is pure win...
you see someone come out of their CQ with just a monocle on and ask them where are their clothes and they say, I had to trade in my faction fit Mach for the monocle, I didn't have enough left for anything else...

Oooo, I like that idea. We can use monocles for killboards too!
Monocles Lost: 1.6 Monocles Destroyed: 5.7
And we can use it for Alliance Tournament X!
Fielded: 181.3 monocles
Destroyed: 90.1 monocles
