With all the threads full of crying and raging bitter old veterans, those who actually LIKE incarna and all the work CCP put into it should have a thread too!
We can all agree there's some bugs here and there and things need some attention, but that's nothing new and it's not like CCP won't fix them.
So thank you CCP! Keep up the good work and don't listen to all the trolls!
Sorry if this thread is done before, I looked back a couple pages. But then again, it's not like there isn't a whole bunch of cry/rage threads. To all nay-sayers: gief stuff to me and bye-bye!

Bitter old veterans? You mean the ones who have sustained EVE throughout the years? Yeah screw'em...they deserve no better.

... A small dimly lit rusty room in need of a good clean? Well... ok.
I guess it's the lore about people who live in a goo filled capsule being bad at interior decoration?
If anything the lore was about capsuleers being the new heroes of the Eve universe. Being in the captains closet, looking like I'm on drugs and deciding buying a pair of pants is too expensive sort of brought that crashing down. I mean why would I even leave the pod which has all the power of my quarters wired directly into my brain in a more convenient fashion?

Because there's Lore-based precedent for it. One of the Chronicles I remember reading was someone looking to sign up to fly in an Apocalypse of a Capsuleer as their maintenance crew, and he was extremely honored. But he got to speak with the Capsuleer face-to-face first, making special note of the absolute perfection and scarless-ness of his hands.
"These are not the hands of a killer," he said, "but this is the face of one."
The ship ultimately got destroyed and was replaced two days later, with no word being sent to the protagonist's next of kin... but that's EVE.

I was right there with you guys about the scorpion fiasco and I wanted to hate incarna but...
well, I don't. No apologies either. Yeah, I have to turn off CQ to run four clients and I expected that. Sure there are bugs and glitches galore, no arguments there. I hated reading some of the problems people are having and I consider myself fortunate that i'm not experiencing those things. I've read your arguments and reasoning for being upset and/or for leaving. I agree with some of them but not all. Whether or not someone else agrees with your reason(s) for leaving is irrelevant and I wish the best for those of you who are leaving. Can we has a t-shirt that says "I survived teh lulz" for our avatars please? I'd totally effin' buy that!

Look, I really like CCP *hugs* and I like the Idea of Incarna and what it *might* bring when it's developed further.
But like many have said, it's too intrusive (It doesn't have to be!!) as it is and horribly penalizing if you operate multiple accounts.
While I'm not fully appreciative of it, I'm not totally against it but some things need to be changed. As others have suggested, bring back the old hangar view and add the Option to Disembark into CQ, that way we don't have to load the entire thing every single time we dock, even if we're just doing for 5 seconds to pick something up :)
I love CCP the most of any MMO developer and I like their grand plans for EVE, but this should have been implemented with a choice, similar to what was suggested above.
And yes, it's not an entirely "I love CCP and incarna" so why am I posting here? Well it's not like this post would survive for more then a second in the "I hate incarna" threads, now would it

That is TOTALLY different to whining about features. Thats a real issue and i 100% agree it should be addressed. However people shouldn't argue about the added features when they don't need to use them

Well after two days of trolling hard I guess I could say a nice thing or two.
1.The gfx and the detail in cq are amazing..I like it a lot.
2. The new turrets are very nice too although they need some work because on some ships they just....no. Example the Daredevil.
But for the most part I give props to the art team because it does look really nice.

While the NEX store is a disappointment, there's a lot to like about this expansion.
The new turrets are absolutely amazing. I love how they work, I love how they pew, pulse lasers look absolutely AWESOME now. Whoever is responsible for those in particular - amazing job. ♥
The jump bridge changes are long overdue. They force alliances to actually defend their space a little bit - even if it is just a few gates - in order to protect their carebears. Nullsec will be more fun for everyone.
The Captain's Quarters is pretty cool if you understand that it's really just a tech demo being tested in the wild before they continue expanding upon it. Have you watched the cool stuff go across the screen?
Unprobeable ships are unprobeable no more. They're still hard to catch - you need excellent skills, etc. - but now people need to pay attention a bit to what they're doing. The downside is this will make lowsec even more empty than it is, but at least people are no longer invincible.
Have you seen the Sacrilege ship model? It's gorgeous. All silver and black and evil looking. Love it.
For mission runners, a lot of stuff has been added, fixed, and rebalanced. That's good for everyone.
The new corporation recruitment tool is pretty nice as well. I'm not sure how much use it will get - I've always found the forums and word of mouth to be to be better - but it was a nice overhaul.

I was actually worried a bit about running multiple characters, but I'm running 2 clients in CQ just fine on high graphics and my laptop isn't top of the line. Just your average 2 year old sony vaio.
Of course there could be a lot more stuff to add and more functionality to the screens or being able to flip through the channels with your remote. But of course, this is only the ground work and if they tried to patch the game with EVERYTHING and ALL the features and functionality. The chance of it going wrong and breaking the game are a lot higher. This way they lay the groundwork, fix that, then add more. Just be patient!
And what was also already said here..Yes, this is OPTIONAL. If you don't like CQ, turn it off and continue your day as normal with upgraded turret graphics. If you don't like AURUM, don't use it! I also think the AURUM is slightly too high, so I won't use it just yet. Easy isn't it?
Originally by: Talin Ransara I love Incarna... but I dont love only ONE of FOUR races getting there CQ's. That is my problem.
No worries, this is just the first one. The others will come and we should have everything they wanted to bring in Incarna by august. Since Incursion, they like bringing expansions in parts.

Well Incarna is as I see it mostly of a staging "patch". Nothing new to play around with really. But this was the devs plans all the way. Adding too much features would much likely be a bit too hard to roll out.
When the bugs, stability problems and optimizations are in place it's so much easier to add the gameplay on top of that.
Boring? Yes!
It's the gameplay and the social interaction that will add the fun later on.

I honestly think its very impressive. The fact that Eve is aware of its community enough to put Clear Skies on the ticker is amazing. Maybe figure out a way to have Clear Skies, Jita Cam, or past Alliance Tournaments as movie channels in game would be awesome.
First time walking down the hallway and seeing the ship was a "Holy ****ing Christ" moment. I had the biggest **** eating grin on my face for almost twenty minutes afterwards.
Not sure what everyone is complaining about not being able to run it. I have a dual monitor, dual account set up and I run both stations side by side. I can't wait to see the other races.
Simply Amazing. If this is how WoD is going to look you already have a subscriber.

Thanks CCP... I was watching the HELP channel after Incarna's launch, and it was pathetic, all the *****ing and whining by petulant children. How about a little patience? I've been playing this game on and off since beta (with my other account) and if you are unaware that problems will be fixed, then maybe video gaming should be off your short list of things to do. Eve Online is one of the great experiences we get in life for the price of two movie tickets a month. If this doesn't meet your demands, then leave, move on and find something better to do.... I for one applaud the effort and results that CCP has with this game.
Sincerely, Anigava

Moopy there's a reason that you had to look hard for a " great job CCP " thread in the midst of all the flames.
Perhaps you haven't been around long enough to know your EVE history.
-there's some bugs here and there and things need some attention, but that's nothing new and it's not like CCP won't fix them. * wrong - this game has a long history of persistent bugs that take forever to get fixed. Rockets took years, t3 still don't work at a pos. Add to this the most recent bugs of no longer being able to warp to scanned objects and the list is getting longer not shorter.
If you were at all aware of EVE history this has been a classic complaint of 'bitter old vets'. People asking for fixes to old problems Before new broken content gets added. Stick around long enough and you'll become a vet and start asking the same questions. Why hasn't this been fixed yet. Why are they making new stuff when quite a bit of the old stuff doesn't work the way it should. Why did they add a new feature but in the process bug up some other feature and in effect make things worse instead of better. Why is the quality control process on an established game seem to be getting worse as it gets older and not better ? Why is there an alleged player consultative body ( the CSM ) and these forums if they wont listen to what WE the customer want ? Why have they refused even after all these years to fail to understand that we'd near universally rather wait a little longer for a clean version than have to put up with half baked, half finished, half witted roll outs.
To have spent 4 years of resources on this expansion and to have such a poorly organized roll out is inexcusable, and THAT is what has PO'ed so many people. At the moment it appears as if all this effort has been a waste of energy. Imagine if you would how many more ships than just the maller could have been re-done if resources had been directed at them instead of making Machariel priced monocles ? Then you'll understand why so many peeps are upset.

WOW Thumbs up to incarna and CQ This was a great change and a lot of content in a short time. It was a big boost to immersion. I can't wait to see more and I hope some of those weird items I have collected that have no apparent purpose can be rewarding as viewable/vanity items in the future. The CQ opens Eve up to the upcoming Dust changes and it allows CCP to guide player participation. The CQ inspired me to take up the Planet Management just so I could use the interface.

The prices on the monacle etc are way too high. My suggestion would be to make them 1/10 of the price but make them destroyable when you lose your pod. ;)

Hate to burst your pink bubble there bubba, but WoW is just a few steps ahead of eve, once a game based on its gameplay elements and being a very fine one at that until they introduced all the barbie crap, now it is world of noobcraft and eve will go down that drain aswell because lets face it, there is only cash cows nowadays.

I understand that Incarna is a bit pointless, ATM. And I think the vanity shop is overpriced and superfluous. But I think the game is going in the right direction. And the art department of CCP seems to be worlds ahead of where it was at the game's onset. The captains quarters look great; I really can't wait to see more environments. And the new Maller looks pretty sweet. They took one of the more awkward looking ships, and facelifted it into one of the cooler looking ships in the game (with retaining some of the old styling ques).
My only concern is that after playing the game for a few years, I come to see how slow everything develops in this game (like many of you). And I worry they are going to devote time and resources to a vanity shop, when so many other parts of the game desperately need attention.

Back from work now and I've had a good play with Incarna.
It runs flawlessly on medium settings using interval one on my HD3850/AMD6000+ w. 2gb of ram. I can only run one instance ofc, but I don't need more than that for the alts.
What can I say? The controls are 'classic' and very quickly make perfect sense and work really well. The sound is lovely. The whole atmosphere of being in a hangar is great.
The avatar body animations are poor and should be completely motion captures imho.
Apart from that? Accomplished stuff from ccp and I hope presages a whole new era of interaction and immersion.

Edited by: Galandole Tsuramananda on 22/06/2011 18:41:44 I completely support Incarna.
The the old vets who claim that CCP has given it to them up the ass, claim this every single time a large update rolls by. And they will continue to take it up the ass, and continue to complain for years to come. Let em, no one cares.
For the rest of us, who treat this like a GAME and not a JOB, may CCP prosper in their endeavors.
For those of you who dislike Incarna, and simply choose to disable the feature and not purchase Aurum clothes without QQing on the forums, you are almost saintly in your rationale, and we thank you.

I have been reading all the complaints before actually being able to log in and try it out. I was worried it would suck and most important of all, not run on my old computer.
Glad I was wrong. It runs well with medium settings (actually the kind of settings I sued to have Eve in anyway) and I like the small but brilliant features. I just received market info on my screen and after that a sov-change between Razor and White Noise. How cool is that. Ingame events, influenced by players, as a news stream in the background.
I might be easy to please, but I dig it. Also, my ship now spins itself!

I never had any intention of buying the vanity clothes- and if any clothes might make me change my mind, they're not the ones on offer currently. However, on behalf of those who were looking forward to the Noble store, as someone who knows what money is worth with the cost of living getting steeper and steeper, I would like to affirm that the quoted fellow is absolutely right.

BAHAHAHA! I hate to burst YOUR bubble but WoW a very fine game based on its gameplay elements???!?! Seriously!? UNTIL they introduced the barbie crap?? You mean, during BETA?!? WoW has ALWAYS had a strong vanity aspect and has always tried to cater heavily to new players. And unlike your comparison, the Incarna patch actually doesn't impact gameplay for the sake of vanity.
As for the point of the thread, I'll sign it. I've been playing since 2003 and I am glad to see them expanding the game. Back in 2003, people whined that CCP's sci-fi game lacked any sort of environment with people and felt very 1-dimensional for a sci-fi universe. Then after they announced "walking in stations", all anyone did was complain that it was never going to arrive. Now it finally has, and people just whine more. I'm just happy they are following through. I'll be honest and say I don't like the implementation of it very much, most especially the camera, but I still think it is more of a step forward for EVE as a whole. Incarna is very nice. Having returned from years of inactivity, and first started playing in 2003, all I can say is GG CCP! The only disappointment is the difference between the early Incarna vids and the final product. In the early vids (the one where you saw a chick and a dude viewing an Omen in hangar) it looked so much better as the ships looked to much bigger.
Other than that, GG!

I appreciate hard work of CCP - I like the Incarna as an idea, and this is just the first step.
But still - some things have to be fixed, or CCP will lose their players. My laptop isn't that bad, but still, I cannot enjoy the CQ even on low settings, the lag is terrible. I don't have money to buy a super ultra cool laptop for gamers, so unfortuantely, I don't see myself playing Eve in the future, if they don't fix the problem with lag.
I was waiting so long for Incarna, and now... nothing changed for me, except background picture in the station. :(
I'm not here to whine, but I think that lot of people have the same problem... we all WANT to walk in stations, not to look at the static background.
That is the major problem of this expansion, not the Incarna itself.
Once again I must say that I support Incarna and all this idea. Just plz CCP, make it more playable (i.e. less laggy) for our computers.
And... plz don't start with: "Laptops are bad for games, buy a comp." because I have laptop for reason.
Btw. I have a positive feedback for char creator which looks pretty cool now even on low shader and medium settings. The textures and lightning are much better now.

I'm seriously a fan so far. The CQ is beautiful, I can't wait to see more.
If I can complain about anything, it's that there's not more of it yet. We'll just have to wait and see what else they add to it. Personally, I look forward to seeing some variety added to the NEX, hopefully at lower prices.
And if these are just the minmatar quarters, I can't wait to see the others.

+1 The original demo showed regular hanger with an 'enter CQ' button. Players who have hardware issues/issues in general can simply not hit the button and keep playing the game as they enjoy it.
Heck, this whole debacle could've been avoided by setting up CQ like that. I like it, but it's really interesting for about 5 minutes, then the massive loading times and CPU requirements outweigh everything else, and I'd rather look at my spaceship while I'm doing stuff in station, not a rusty door. ---

Great job. I love the CQ and love where I see it going.
the cloth prices are insane but hey CCP said they a) had no idea what to price them and b) that they would be watching it all very closely. if you're rage quitting because you bought a monocle for 68 bucks then that's on you. My plasma TV that cost 4 grand back then can no be gotten for 900 bucks. Ragequit life!! Arrg. lol
All these hate threads are sad. I can't even comprehend the hate when DUST comes and "stupid console people ruin EVE". Change is good. At the end of the day we're playing the game they've designed, you pay if you want to. there is zero obligation to make everyone happy and in fact I love EVE for that very fact.

I can appreciate it, I only do not know what it is good for. It reminds me a bit of Mass Effect, which was a nice game and the graphics gave it its own atmosphere. Maybe it will give EVE the same atmosphere (that of "shiny and new") when there is more of Incarna to see.
My guess, however, is that the majority will care about Incarna, all this walking in stations stuff and virtual pants (for real money), as much as they care about an exploding Hulk. I am giving it a month and then it is "spaceships as usual". Those expensive pants will get old and many, who are now speculating on the PLEX price, will end up sitting on a lot of PLEXes (which is not going to hurt).
I could care less, so I must be appreciating it, but I do not think that it is going to make the game better for me. I used to dock up when I wanted to go afk (as every good pilot does), and with Incarna do I not have a reason to change this. I will continue to dock in order to go afk, and undock when I want to play.
Best thing I like about Incarna is the agent finder. This is a nice and useful thing. Having an ashtray next to my bed is actually disgusting , but the Incarna graphics are nice, even when it does not feel like a place I want to be in for long.
However, I will keep an open mind and see what CCP is turning this into. --

If the expansion didnt have the NEX store or if the prices were more reasonable this would be a great expansion.
Besides that its a great start to incarna though I can understand how many vets feel let down by CCP, they've realy sold themselves out with this one.
