I am rich, however, and the cost is the same to me as 10 isk is to you.
ERGO: The only reason you do not buy a monocle is that you are poor.
I'd rather buy a dreadnaught to be honest, as it's basically the same price as 2 of those monocles, and yes i can afford them too...

True, it is a vanity piece, but when a pair of monocles costs more than a fully fitted dreadnaught, wich is something that can be used in game day in and day out(until it gets blown up eventually), i have a problem with that.
The monocle would have to be made out of a single diamond stone to be worth that much to be honest...

I have altered my Avatar portrait so the monocle is not in shot anymore, as my head is pointed down and out of the page
It should update to the eve forums in a while.
If you cannot afford quality items you should not be able to look apon them if people are going to be hateful
I'm having too much fun flying capital ships, wich now that i mention it, some can't even dock so the vanity store for these items is not an option for a fair amount of super carrier and titan pilots out there, wich their ships cost considerably more than a pair of monocles, so they definitely are extremely rich individuals.....Chribba and his alts fly 4 titans(one from each race).

When you buy enough monocles to fill a hauler then u run it into a gatecamp for ****s and giggles, then you're rich.
Buying a 1 bil item and flashing it as a sign of your wealth is more like a ukranian flashing his 5 year old Nokian cellphone to impress to the local townspeople.
To be honest, 1 billion isk was a lot of money in eve around 2004 or so, but not so much in 2011...
These days to even register on the radar of the truly rich, it starts out at the 100 billion mark and keeps going up from there, with the truly high rollers in the trillion isk mark by now....
