Neither does CCP, most of the time. And even when they do, the problem is that they're not actually communicating all that much.
And just because some companies are worse than CCP doesn't mean CCP are doing it right. It's not nearly as dichotomous as that. Yes, after the summer's fiasco, they are interacting more with the community, but whether this brief exchange is the beginning of communication or whether one party is just making sounds has yet to be seen.

Either they don't play, or they don't play the same kind of game as the players since they are quite explicitly unaware of the issues being discussed. People don't fail to notice it GÇö quite the opposite. They just call BS on the notion in many instances since it is quite apparent that the person on the other side has very little experience with the game mechanics and in-game situation in question. Well everything is debatable off course but only CCP can tell what will happen next The next big updates shall be announced next week and if they play their cards right they should be able to regain allot of trust. One thing they mention over and over is that they are currently in a planning phase. We just have to wait if all our problems are covered when they publish it. ~ When everything fades away, an echo is the only sound that will remain ~ -á-á~ Chaos is a name for any order that produces confusion in our minds ~ |

Another thing mentioned over and over again in those threads is that people type elaborate posts about bugs that are in the current program and there's absolutely no reply from CCP whatsoever. They didn't even respond to my childish and succesful attempts at evading the profanity filter. Planning phase or not, don't create those threads if you're not going to read them or respond to constructive feedback in them. And ther is a LOT of constructive feedback in there, every QA's wet dream. (translation for CCP: QA = Quality Assurance, you should try it some time)
It's really cute to have all those devs running around on the forums suddenly (I wonder how they manage to find time for those visits while they're so busy planning), but completely ignoring threads that are mentioned in the official patch notes is not really good communication in my book. CCP is doing fine, they've been doing fine, in fact, great! The more I come to the forums, the more everything seems to be a copy of a post of a copy of a post of a copy of a post.

Until they do, whacking them over the head with their own arrogance is quite justified.

EXACTLY!!!
Quote:"We watch what you do, not what you say"
Why would you put that as a quote?
It was never said to us. Go back and find the actual internal email and see what was actually said. Not to us, but to other CCP employees. And if you lived through the whole fiasco it produced, you might, like myself, agree with the sentiment. EXACTLY!!!
Quote:I think the biggest problem is that no matter what CCP says or does, the naysayers and doomsayers are out here ripping everything apart and freaking out over every little statement or word that doesn't "jive" with thier dream or vision of what EvE should be. EXACTLY!!!
And as stated by our topic Dev.....
Quote:We are not doing this to upset anyone but rather to ensure that our messages are not misleading or incorrect. EXACTLY. Okay. Cool, no more vague promises.
CCP Navigator wrote:I completely understand where you are coming from so ok. You guys can expect to see an announcement coming, within the next week hopefully, which will cover the next two major patches. As can be seen in Torfi's blog, this will include the return of ship spinning, a new cyno effect and fixes and changes to flying in space. There are more announcements and Dev Blogs to come about great features we are rolling out which are directly as a result of what you, the players, and the CSM have asked for. Yes, I know you would like more meat on the bones and it will be coming over the next few weeks. In the mean time, we will keep up communication as often as possible.
Well that took you ~70 minutes to start vaguely promising "soon"

Out of which the only thing we know for sure is that ship spinning as we knew is returning, and a new cyno effect is coming.
Revision of hybrids? Who the hell knows what they'll do with hybrids.. might as well just completely nerf the other guns to be as sucky as hybrids.
Revision of nullsec? A tad bit vague don'tcha think....
Actual communication? With you, personally, maybe?!
Focus on FiS? Well, they never said they weren't focused in FiS to begin with, so to me saying that they will focus now might just mean that they will work harder and faster at nerfing it even more. CCP listens, it is just there are a lot of really spoiled people who want CCP to OBEY.
Listening and Obeying are two different things.
Frankly I think this customer base is so childish and ill behaved they should close General Discussion and only allow constructive on topic posts in the topic specific forums.

Nevertheless, far more FiS stuff than has been mentioned in a long while. And while they might not have said that they weren't focusing on FiS, the numbers they occasionally shown (to say nothing of what they actually did) delivered that message loudly enough. We know they've shown us some screenshots with an ugly font.
They once showed us some screenshots for Incarna too.

One thing people need to realise here... and its a very important point......
CCP have reacted to the Incarna fiasco by instructing some of its employee's to be alot more active on the forum, perhaps even changing their full time job to purely read and reply to the forums too.
Behind the scenes, other than the fact we can see alot more pretty blue "Dev" markers on the forums.... nothing has changed.
Remember this. |

My experience with CCP so far (3 ish years) is that they often hurt themselves by saying/promising stuff, that they later can't live up to. You guys should really look over your planning and "release announcements" IMO. Features & Ideas Discussion: Agent Finder, Black Holes Needs a banner here.. |

I personally could not care less what CCP says on these forums or in a new 'blog'. (which apparently they don't know the definition of a blog) The only reason there is so much action lately is they got some bad press. This new found communication is nothing more than damage control. CCP doesnt' care what people say it's what they 'do' right... so get to doing boys and leave the PR B.S. to your community reps and the CSM pawns. |

for more extensive proof, wait another 2 months, download the eve client, and login to find, surprise surprise, still nothing's changed.
but hey we get pretty blue tabs on the forums. If they change the GM's tag to green we may mistake this place as a christmas clothing store or something!
