I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that a simple, honest rate hike would have been far more acceptable than this poorly executed thing. I mean, it's not fooling anyone, and the new system requirements made it self-defeating anyway. The impact on lower end system users will offset the silly avatar bling revenue.
I'm guessing the monocle sells for about 50 cents a vertex.

If he hadn't said he wanted microtransactions to be more than just vanity items, I'd say promote him. The only reason I haven't biomassed my characters after canceling my accounts is because I still have a faint hope that a few months from now we'll see a press release from ccp saying "eve is all about parting idiots from their isk, and we found a way to take it to a whole new level. P.S. we totally trolled you guys, the tears were hilarious lololol".
But since that's hardly likely to happen, I would recommend reading this somewhat disturbing eve chronicle for ideas on alternatives to fireing.
And for the record, I don't think that he's an "evil capitalist" for wanting microtransactions (I don't even think that wanting to make a profit is a bad thing). What I have a problem with is when companies scheme to milk their customers for every last bit of cash they can squeeze out, and eve is running headlong down that path with people like him leading the charge.
Three years ago they said there'd never be microtransactions.
Last year they said there'd be microtransactions but only for vanity items with little to no effect on gameplay.
Next year you'll probably be able to buy faction ammo for cash, $1 per shot.

The original document hasn't been proved to be real or fake yet, so rather than jumping to conlusions straight away as is the norm, maybe we should wait a little.
Stoff is entitled to his opinion anyway, and there is nothing yet saying that CCP will be following this route.
