Ill always have my League of Legends, but that's not something I can play all day. I am defiantly looking forward to GW2. Battlefield 3 for PC will hog 20% of my time. LoL another 20% and the rest will go to **** and Game of Thrones when the next season starts.

Are there any other remotely decent persistent sandbox MMOs out there? I'm not aware of any. |

Just got Dungeon Siege III on Steam since it just came out, waiting on Diablo 3 and GW2 also. Swtor maybe. BSG online is browser based but not bad, definately spoiled on eve graphics, the one thing they have going for them.

I'm not necessarily quitting (I'm paid through march on my accounts and I expect that CCP will either failcascade or right the ship by then) but I've had a lot of fun playing Mount & Blade Warband lately.

Manual flight in galactica is quite fun and challenging. It's a f2p rmt but at least they're honest about it.
Note to ccp it also sucks sometimes because it's a f2p with rmt. 2 day old characters insta popping you because they bought 50k sp or people dual and tripple boxing.
At least i know what eve will look like soon.

Playing it now. Its new so its comparable to how Eve was 5-6 years ago. A little rough around the edges but shows promise.

How're you liking it? It seems like one of those games where reviews go right from one end of the scale to the other. It looks nice, on the face of it.

ArcheAge looked good, until i saw the WoW style ? quest mechanics.
Its a self proclaimed Hybrid Sandbox/Themepark. or more succintly, weak sauce.
Before they released in game footage, the description of the game, and its art, made it sound really cool. Very Sandbox, Very big, much complexity, deep items and crafting....
thne they went and slapped a Themepark style questing/leveling scheme ontop of it to attract leprechauns......

In the beginning EVE devs regularly visited the forums and posted, and there really was a feeling that the devs were into the game. You complained about something - it got fixed. Nowadays you have to make a formal complaint to a puppet representative that CCP doesn't really listen to and get ignored anyway. It has changed though - I am certain it's partially our fault since everything a dev said was being nitpicked to death, but there likely was also a corp policy about not posting unless ordered to. At least it feels like that.
I've liked the new BSG series, let's see if the MMORG is any good.

This is true. Hopefully since some of the Devs of Perpetuum are ex-Eve players they will learn from CCPs mistakes. One can only hope though.

Now this is a good thread.
Eve has lots of things going for it, that i havent' found other places
a persistant economy.. no bind on contact items.. almost everything other than skills transferable between players (and even then you can use game play to get more skilled characters from other players).
The one universe.. or at least a very huge universe with tens of thousands of people from throughout the world is great.. how low a number would be best would depend on lots of things..

I'm going to try and play any game that's become better than this. Even RL (and there are no clones there, so I'm told).
Sad Vet signing out.

I've played it when they left beta and left after a month. It has a really nice integration of Avatar/Ship mode and the IP is neat too, but it's too stereotypical (Klingons and Romulans are always Teh Bad and so on) and too grindy for my taste. The missions are much more boring that the standings grind on EVE once you've ran a few, and I was able to max out my characters level in the month I played - and I did not play very much.
CCP could learn how to run a microtransaction store from them though. With each subscription you get some coinage for their store included, and it's enough to buy you several things. They are not quite vanity though, some items have an effect on the game. For instance you could by custom races like the 7-of-9 style Federized Borg (yes, including configurable breast size) that had slightly superior attributes than the "free" races. It's roughly comparable to the various races in EVE before they took away starting attributes - not a big advantage, but noticeable.
As I said, main reason I left was that there was a lot of grind, and PvP was highly formalized, with Klingons being the race tailored for PvP - but so underdeveloped that each Klingon had a Federation alt that kept sending him gear to be able to at least be decent.
Take everything with a large grain of salt however, they're out of beta for a while now and stuff might have changed a lot.
