Yesterday when I tried to visit my hangar in Amarr I was told I had been assigned new captain's quarters. As I entered I was repulsed by the smell of the place. The quarters are designed in some horrific Matari style, poorly lighted and the rust is practically dripping from the ceiling. I hardly recognized myself when I looked in the shadowy mirror.
Of course, I contacted station authorities and asked them to give me a proper room. This was the Emperor Family Station after all, I would imagine they had proper Amarrian quarter's available. They said they couldn't. New regulation from Concord and the SCC, all in-station capsuleers were to be confined to similar cramped and filthy quarters. When I told station staff I would prefer to handle communications on my ship, they refused. Regulation stated that I could now only enter my ship when the undocked procedure was started, and it was illegal to enter my ship at any other time. I was baffled.
To add insult to injury, the SCC has given a monopoly on capsuleer clothes sales to a previously unknown company called Noble Exchange. Not only was their stock limited to 8 items, but the for the money they charged for a set I could buy and outfit several battleships, crew and all!
I understand the need for Concord and the SCC to not just follow the whims of the more vocal capsuleers. If they did so, we would probably in an even worse mess. However, there is a continual failure of Concord and the SCC to address the rules and regulations they impose on capsuleers.
Concord decides who is winning and how one wins in Factional Warfare. However, their regulations have become largely detached from the actual war being fought. Even after years of well-constructed arguments from all sides they continually and adamantly refuse to change the rules of war. A similar situation is true for sovereignity warfare. I've never before seen so many pilots shoot stationairy and undefended objects for so many hours. In many cases regulations cause near-farcical situations. And let's not even start on things like their bounty hunting system, which has been the laughing stock of capsuleers for nearly a decade.
Wait a few years, and it will get better eventually their officials continue to tell me. Well, even the Amarr Empire, not well known for the speed of its bureaucracy is almost a whirlwind next to some of these Concord bureaucrats.
I believe the time is drawing close where I can do the work of God and advance the Amarr Empire better from a planetside position than as a capsuleer. Hence I've cancelled the automatic renewal of my capsuleer license. Such isk is better spent than supporting the machinations of an overly bureuacratic organization which serves itself first rather than the capsuleers and states that fund it.

This is a great loss for the Empire, and for New Eden.
We can only hope that your departure will not be a permanent one.

Since my Concord fees have already been paid for the coming 9 months, my departure will proceed with proper Amarrian dignity as well. ____

I put the accommodations down to expediency. Matari facilities require less maintenance, and are therefore brought online more quickly than those of more service dependent civilizations. To combat that primal aroma, I donned a new wig and began perfuming it heavily. Incense burners and curtains of scented wooden beads might also prove necessary. In fact, perhaps I'll order a glowing orb to entertain locals with fanciful predictions.

Just throwing it out there. When it comes to the place smelling like a dog pit and rust falling from the cieling, wouldn't you agree that the quarters would in fact need more maintenance?

I would say it met expectations. A camping lodge might be no more than hosed out one guest to the next, while Dam Torsad's hoteliers must hold to a higher standard. Both are nevertheless functional for their respective purposes.
Think of this time as an opportunity to cherish the benefits of Faith by experiencing conditions which might fester in its absence.

At this time large fleets of protesting capsuleers have arrived in Amarr, moving its capsuleer population to well over 1,000.
With Concord still cracking down on some form of violent protests the rage of the capsuleer has sadly directed itself at the Academic Monument at the Emperor Family station. For some unknown reason this monument is exempt from protection by Concord forces, while the nearby station it under their protection. Perhaps it is symbolic that Concord does protect commerce stations, but not a symbol of learning and wisdom like the monument?
I have never seen such a large symbol of capsuleer protest during my own time as capsuleer, it seems more people dislike being forced to use these dank Matari quarters and the myriad of other Concord and SCC malversations.

At this time more than 1,500 capsuleers have gathered in Amarr, with about a 1,000 firing at the Academic Monument.
At the time of this writing I was fired upon by an unknown entity, an overloaded scanner makes it impossible to identify the perpetrator...

I paid 4.95ISK in bribes to the construction crews so that all Amarrian stations would have a little doggie 'present' delivered to the air conditioning ducts. My quarters smell like roses. Money well spent :)
On a more serious note. Like Mr Merdaneth, it seems many capsuleers fear our way of life is being eroded away by negligent and unwilling authorities. It remains to be seen as to whether formal and impromptu protest will bring about any positive change. We can only try.

To the average Minmatar (who is used to living in a mud-hut) the accomodation provided may seem like luxury. But I have more refined tastes.
Down with these fetid lodgings say I.
