What a lot of effort devoted to bloatware! The long walk into the Captain's Quarters the memory it consumes, make it a nogo for me. I turned it off after a few minutes. Perhaps .001% of the effort could have been used to rid the annoying trait of Acceleration Gates to ensnare ships upon arrival. Thanks for nothing CCP! |

Plus three updates in three days, it appears the code was not sufficiently tested. CCP released beta at best.

Not even close. You either don't work in development or don't understand your industry.

More that just the understanding that with a release, especially a large one, on a system this complicated, you're not going to always (read: ever) get it exactly right the first time. It's not because they're fail developers, didn't test, etc.
But yes, I like your mantra, too.

Your opinion is important and valued, and obviously correct even when faced with dissent by those who actually do enjoy CQ and are annoyed by whiners like yourself.

I honestly am indifferent. I like the idea and the concept, and am intrigued to see what the future holds and how interactive they make stations both player to station and player to player. However, at the same time I can understand the bitterness some might have because of the extra stresses this puts onto older systems. To be honest EVE has done a good job of keeping the older systems in the chain, but from the sounds of the future of walking in stations my take the requirements up a slight notch.. start saving for your upgrades.
Note: As of right now you can turn the function off, but from what I've heard (Have no sources other than forum-fail, but I'm assuming it was mentioned somewhere by someone in CCP) that eventually this function will be phased out.

Who'd of thunk it? A modern gaming company upgrading their game to be in line with average modern computers and average standards of the industry.
Huh, guess I should emoquit.

Edited by: Calypsa Aeurelieus on 23/06/2011 18:11:52 Just like any other investment in a capitalist world. Got to go where the majority of the money is. I have no problem with the changes and no worries about my computer running them though I do feel bad that some people simply can't afford to upgrade their hardware... but hopefully since they know "it's coming" they will try to allocate funds for such.

People who have issues with running EVE need to upgrade their machines period... why...
I have a machine that was purchased back in 2006...
1x - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Manchester 2.4GHz Socket 939 Dual-Core Processor 2x - EVGA 256-P2-N553-AX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Support Video Card 1x - GIGABYTE GA-K8N Pro-SLI 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard with 1394b 1x - COOLMAX CW-650T 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Aluminum Power Supply 2x - CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (1 x 1024MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
That runs Captain's Quarters just fine.... 2006, FIVE YEARS AGO.. No problem.. It runs at 1280x1024, full screen Windows XP SP3 OS.
I'm sorry to say, if you have a problem running EVE and Incarna, you're using something OLDER then a machine built back in 2006.. Time to suck it up and spend $400 on the cheapest machine you can find, because that will out-perform this thing.
By the way, you're in the wrong forum...

Im sorry but thats not the point. The issue is that the new useless captains quarters suck up system resources. I use a 2009 super powerful machine, but I often have 3 eve clients runnings plus all the other programs in the background.
A huge part of the eve clientbase is multiboxers and even on a sweet system, the performance goes to ****. Maybe you dont agree with having multiple accounts, but as the is the md forums, I would presume everyone would be ****ed at how ccp is stuedly alienating their best customers. ---------

5 players running 1 account is better than 1 player running 5 accounts any day of the week.

Are you really that surpised that a dual SLI setup works for CQ? REALLY?
Personally I think you have got to be either trolling or mentally deficient if you think that is the case...

5*1*15 = 1*5*15
How is 5 players running 1 account better than 1 player running 5 accounts? After all CCP is a money grubbing corporation. All that matters is the bottom line, and both add the same amount to it.
fakedit: Yes I know that 5 different people is much better than 1 person with 5 accounts. However CCP really doesn't care as long as the money keeps coming in. Not to mention that CCP has actively encouraged people to have more than 1 account with all the Power of 2 promotions and the way you can run multiple instances each with their own settings all from 1 install.
