I've already posted my number of unsubs quite a few pages ago, but I am keeping an eye on this thread just out of curiosity. My Eve friends/corpmates etc are a mix of some of the things said in this thread. I've decided there are three different types of us.
1 - Like me, and there's only a few of us out of the maybe 50+ in our alliance that have spoken up about it. I've unsubbed 7 accounts, and some are running out before the next month is up. Two are unfortunately (for me) long-term, and won't run out until around December 1st.
We are the ones who have not only cancelled our recurring subs, and not applied PLEX to those accounts we only pay for with is, but have stopped logging into the game completely. We feel that simply cancelling accounts doesn't alert CCP to the seriousness of the situation (according to us), and continuing to login even after cancellation only reinforces the point that CCP made in the Hilmar email: we watch what players do, not what they say.
2 - The majority of us. We are the ones who have cancelled our subs but still continue to login and play with the remaining time left, waiting for a real answer from CCP. Some of us have simply invested too much time and money into Eve to walk away completely, and so we hang on the knife edge of cancelling subs but still playing in hopes that we can re-sub if CCP makes the decisions that we are hoping they make.
3 - Those of us who have cancelled our subs, but have at least been honest in stating that it is only to make a point to CCP, but we have no real interest in actually quitting, even if MT issues are not resolved and even if we are forced to use CQ even though the majority of us hate it and plan to never use it (there isn't a single person in our alliance that I've heard say they kept CQ active beyond a few minutes of checking it out because it adds zero to the game, and in fact harms the game by making it run like utter crap, even those of us who have very high-end PC's).
Trolls can troll in this thread and others, it doesn't bother me. The point of this post is that both sides are correct in trying to determine the validity of the claims made in this thread, as I'm sure everyone that has posted saying they have cancelled their sub(s) fits into one of these three groups. This makes it very hard to take the numbers in this thread as anything but unsupported statements.
The side that is questioning these numbers is correct in some ways, as it a knee-jerk reaction (quitting), and no doubt plenty will just re-sub no matter what, but are trying to make a statement. Whether the way they are making a statement has any real impact or not, no one can know at this time.
The side that is quitting (and being wound up by some of the trolling) is correct in some ways...these players really will quit and not login anymore if things don't go the way they hope over the next few days. Some are just biding their time, and will re-sub no matter what.
Really, it is just too hard to tell what is actually going to happen. I'm not sure why there has to be much vitriol towards those of us who are quitting (or at least claiming to quit), nor do I understand the counter-venom that quitting players pile back on to the trolls (remember the rule of not feeding the trolls?).
If anyone needs validation that I personally am not just blowing hot air, and have actually quit and have not logged in at all since my post in this thread, just ask anyone from Shadow Cartel alliance. They are pretty upset with me right now as I simply refuse to login and go roaming with them. I love my Eve pals, they are one of the greatest groups of friends I've ever had online, and Eve is one of the greatest games I've ever played.
But we all have to stand up for what we believe, and for me, that is just not even logging in anymore. For others...it is whatever they do, and I'm not going to judge. We'll see exactly who does what as time goes on.
Until then, I'm just watching the forum. Stuff goes here |
