Quote: "The employees who submitted articles to that newsletter did exactly what they were asked to do, write about theories and opinions from an exaggerated stand."
I think people just don't believe you when you say that, with the respect to the exaggerated stand. I think the players thing those individuals just wrote THEIR stand on the topic, and that's what the players are reacting to. After reading the Glassdoor Review of CCP by Employees it makes this 'dev blog' look disingenuous.
Quote: "While itęs perfectly fine to disagree and attack CCP over policies or actions we take, we think itęs not cool how individuals that work here have been called out and dragged through the mud due to something they wrote in the internal company newsletter."
This I can agree with, I guess. Who can be called out though? Anyone? Who's running your show, CCP?
Quote: People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Whichever it is, it is clear that by wearing clothes you are expressing yourself and that the price is one of the many dimensions that clothes possess to do that in addition to style and fit. You don't need to buy expensive clothes. In fact you don't need to buy any clothes. Whatever you choose to do reflects what you are and what you want others to think you are.
This sounds like the speech made for CCPs directors/shareholders. It's conceptual rhetoric. I feel like this was taken from the alluded to speech with "players will pay a lot of RL dollars for this. They are hooked on the game now we can really milk them!" redacted. You aren't going to win a lot of hearts and minds with this drivel.
So... I'm not one of the "rage quitters". I didn't care about Incarna that much, one way or the other, and I don't care about MT as long as it's never going to affect game play. For me, this was just an empty and lame expansion with a new record of unpolished / incomplete features. Whatever. At least I don't get stuck in gates anymore . This dev blog I've quoted above it a really lame piece of writing though. It demonstrates that CCP really doesn't "get it", as so many have stated. I didn't agree with that statement until today... but man there is a really clear disconnect in that zulu blog. Like I said... not quitting or threatening or raging. I'm just watching... and tentatively looking around at what games are out atm and what's coming out in the future. I'm just contingency planning I guess.
Thanks for the awesome game CCP. It really is the best one out there, I think. I really hope you don't destroy it.
