For my 2 cents on all of this:
I actually liked CQ. It is far from finished, slow and really needs to be optional for those folk who cannot run it (especially as it adds no functionality to the game). I like EVE. Until now I have ranked CCP up there with the very top development teams. However your handling of this situation is just so frustrating for a fan of both the game and yourselves.
People do not want non-vanity items from MTs in eve. Personally I do not want any MTs (the idea of paying subscription fees for you to develop something that you then sell back to me doesn't make sense. It is why I quit ST:O and why I refuse to use the NeX). Non-vanity items will cripple the ingame economy, even if not everyone will want to pay $ to get the ships they will pay using ingame isk to get the best. This cuts out the entire production cycle completely as manufacturers, miners, inventors, haulers, station traders etc. all become obsolete or at best catering for lower-level players. All these people you will force out of your game in addition to those who have or are leaving already. This is why people are so angry. This is why people want one simple question answered: Are you going to bring in non-vanity items in microtransactions?
Then instead of answering the question you have repeatedly sidestepped it. All this has done is make things worse as you can no doubt see. I understand that in response to threats and calls for firings you have become defensive (anyone would whose job or safety is called into question) but there really is no way you can avoid giving an answer. If you continue to ignore the question people will assume you are saying "yes we will put in microtransactions for everything" or at best leaving the option open for yourselves. Please, just from a business point of view, do the maths. Will microtransactions ever bring in the amount of money you are losing now and will lose in the future from taking this stance? How many items will have to sell to make up for all these canceled subscriptions? Not just now but across the months or years that they would have happily paid for?
In the leaked document it was said that MTs are a good way of getting feedback of what players want in a way subscriptions don't. If you want feedback then look at this forum, look ingame, look across message boards all over the internet. People do not want this. They are desperately trying to give you feedback, telling you with messages, ingame demonstrations and cancelled accounts. Keep this up and ever more will give you feedback on this situation via that "unsubscribe" button.
I used to love CCP for the fact they put the players first. I could recommend eve for everyone as you promised that nobody would ever have to pay beyond subscription fees for any additional content. Now I simply do not trust you, and for the record if MTs ever sell a non-vanity item in eve I will quit and never return.
Please make the right choice CCP, and make it fast.
