Everyone deserves a chance to clarify and defend their position and argue their case: and that includes CCP Soundwave.
Personally I think he's a different consumer of online content to many EVE players. My question is if he felt that way why didn't he come to the community to outline, defend and argue for his standpoint?
Perhaps Seleene has a view on this from a 'ex-dev' point of view?

Edited by: Symdetta on 25/06/2011 01:53:48 The fact that they aren't mentioning the P2W issues the playerbase are having with the leaked documents, In my eyes at least, proves that the "newsletter" is a lot more than just internal dialogue between dev teams, and more a 'plan of action'. Zulu completely ignoring the important questions (be it because he's force too or not) says a lot.

I have played Eve for several years now and paid subscriptions. Now with this Nex store CCP uses the money I allready pay them to make the store. Then they pay people to make items for the store and then they want us to pay more money to get those items we have allready paid them to make. Does this mean that they intend to make Eve Online Free to play like most other mmo's who use micro transactions?

I'm just afraid that the fact that they keep dodging the Pay 2 Win question means that they are planning on doing it...
If they were to come out and say "Oh yeah, we are actually planning on doing that", they would instantly lose a painful number of subscribers.

Then perhaps dump the Massively guy for a bit? Thus keeping the CSM folks on and talking to us? Maybe an idea? Or am I dipstick for this one?

What exactly can you expect to happen eventually when you are trying to build and support 3 games when you only have 1 Golden Goose?
Hookers and blow do cost money, but that's maybe .02% of the problem here (hopefully).
We're not upset that you lied to us CCP, we're upset that from now on we can't believe you.

Edited by: Warstomp on 25/06/2011 01:55:51 How about discuss the fact beyond RMT. The fact that Incarna was released half baked. How come 2 years ago at Fanfaire we were shown bars and other activities like games to play in the bar. Yet this release didn't have any of that. Did the whole dev team just dissapear for 2 years?
What about play 2 win for dust. Dust will be part of sov warfare and will be free to play with micro transactions. Does that not make sov warfare play 2 win?
What about the fact that the past 3 years expansions have not improved the game. We have gotten nothing but gimmicky addons like planetary interaction, and more. Dominion was not what it promised to be and failed horribly. The game has not improved.
When I complain about dominion I refer to the fact that it did nothing. It may have made fueling less of a pain but nothing else was fixed.

EVE-RADIO, great job.
My questions.
Why are we, the players, over-reacting? Protesting is a time-honored human tradition. Civilization was built on protest. Protest has been a strong part of where we are today. So how or who is over-reacting?
I think the community has been diligent in examining the information after having monitored our communications. Are emotions high? Yes. Does that mean we're over-reacting? I don't think so. Should people be threatening any CCP Employee? No, but that doesn't mean all the players are over-reacting, that's highly generalized when you are referring to 100,000 players+ responding, watching and reacting.
We've discussed the negative approach to some CCP Employees but what do you think about John Turbefield thread honoring him and embellishing on his thoughts because we feel totally in synch with them and people have gone out of their way with images, honorifics and frankly giving him a lot of respect for representing our perspectives.
Finally, does the CSM think that the decision about not responding to the question of non-vanity items being avoided intentionally to hide the decision, and what would they do if it is being avoided because the decision is already made?

Question in general:
Can CCP sustain itself with it's current attitude towards customers and customer experience? In a competitive MMO market, this is an essential factor in keeping players hooked.

As a long time player i have only 2 questions 1. RMT for Eve game effecting items will it go ahead? 2. Incarna ?? what happened to the vision and visuals back from 2006?
I love Eve but RMT will destroy the sandbox and what has made Eve so great.

Something that SHOULD be considered is past employee responses here:
http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/CCP-Games-Reviews-E159347.htm
Specificly this quote:
Quote: Several years now CCP has predicated insane subscriber goals that cannot be met. Naturally this is met with scepticism by the employees but it falls on deaf ears. The result is that the company is suffering because we cannot sustain the development of EVE, DUST and WOD. EVE is not creating enough revenue which means that solutions are sought, solutions that CCP was vehemently against a few years ago.
It's very informative to why they won't rule out expanding what you can buy with PLEX.

wish we could really get more info from CCP though. The lack of comms, then the absolute joke of a devblog is seriously making me consider dropping the accts...

Considering the prices of the vanity store items and with the possibility of some items possibly being purchased in the future for Aurum that give in game advantage, some people are wondering this:
Is CCP in financial trouble?
If so, just tell us. Raise our subs. Hell, ask for donations. I think PLEX for CCP would go over fairly well to save a game we all love dearly.

For Brendan, how do you think this is going to make CCP look in the long run, at least in the eyes of the media? We've already seen a pretty rough article from RPS, and further discussions and articles can only be coming from Kotaku, Joystiq and other gaming blogs. How damaging is this?
edit: And now a PC Gamer article: linkage!

How do you guys feel about micro transactions? Do you think there's any chance of it benefiting the community, like increased money development, or possibly cheaper subscription fees? I find it strange that there has been no news from the developers attempting to persuade players of the benefits of micro transactions.
Some other games have done very well with it. I'm more bothered by CCP's rudeness than anything else. If they'd simply be more open about what they intend to do, I think there'd be alot less rage.

THE QUESTION: Plain and simple, in light of the memo and their actions leading up to this interviewl, keeping in mind the hugely negative reaction: how can CCP go forward with the expansive MT agenda?
In other words: Will they sacrifice this huge portion of the subscriber base to reach the potential audience they might tap here?
Honestly, I think it's best for them to just...shut up. Seems their 'responses' are just making things worse. :\ ----------------

So dont you guys fear that this is Star Wars Galaxies all over again. accounts unsubbed, player rage on a level not seen before, SOE involvment.
They are failing badly to address player concerns and whilst it is a strategy they have used before to douse the flames, I really dont see this one dying down. Its a competitive market and tehy have a niche if they throw that away some other developer will seduce us to a new sandbox.
CCP ends up sold and EVE dies a slow death until in a year or two it is closed doe to apathy. Ironic SWG closing was announced recently.

Originally by: BolsterBomb my main problem is the RMT for game "i win" buttons.
Even if it does come to that, the only people who will be affected are the people involved in production, even then I should imagine (judging by current prices) that anything sold for aurum will be far more expensive than anything produced in game.
New ships/mods for aurum? Not going to take long before they're on the market and available to everyone, just like all the clothes currently are.

Question for EVE Radio folks: Realistically, how much damage has CCP done to themselves? I know that a lot of folks that have said they were unsubscribing would come back if CCP answered the whole microtransaction issue, but how long before some of those people start leaving on a more permanent basis? Can they recover our confidence anytime soon?

The simple fact of the matter is that CCP is refusing to deal with the elephant in the room. The sooner and more directly they answer a very simple question the better it will be for them.
CCP has already managed to make this worse than the t20 incident by saying nothing. What they need to understand is that by saying nothing, they are confirming all of our fears.
For the love of god CCP, the players have tried to throw you several life lines, and you keep saying "Nope, that aint me" like the guy from "Like a boss". If you really want to save any face you might have left be direct and honest. And for god sakes, be more open with the CSM and the players.

If CCP were truely going for a "Vanity only" plan for the future then there would be no reason for them to be delaying their statement, any member of their PR team would be aware of it and would be able to answer the simple "No" to the big question that has been repeated over and over.
Their silence on this matter says all we need to know about their decision and direction. We've asked then an uncomfortable question because they know that we will not like the answer that they have.
The only way we'll get the answer we want is if they pull the brakes on their current (and long standing) MT plans.

Has CCP's absolute dedication to rabid and ruthless PvP and metagame PvP created a toxic fan base? Is this also part of the issue? Both sides need to acknowledge their place in the conflict.
Next... Won't the increase in value for ISK to AUR only encourage and create 100's more ISK farmers?

My question for the CSM folk - I've read those blogs you all have posted today. How strongly do you feel CCP is going to push ahead with :awesome: Incarna even though we don't find it nearly so :awesome:? Or better put - how likely will we have our concerns re MT for advantage and forever optional Incarna addressed to our satisfaction?
