Just no. It will end with eve being a pay to win game. That model is fine for free to play/pay to win games like world of tanks. But it would ruin Eve.

Seriously, if you can pay $$$ for plex for ISK for supercarrier pilots already .. exactly how much more will SP for AUR make EVE a pay2win game?

I support this idea. I think 6/10
of new players would end up participating in MT for SP.

$/Ç for SP would be one of the more benign implementations of MT and good for the overall helth of the game.
New people playing EVE and spending money on the game is a Good Thing.

I guess thereŠs a lot of them playing EVE then, players buy 1000s of PLEX each MONTH! And donŠt say it doesnŠt give in game advantages ..

ISK enters and exits the game all the time through normal activity.
If you were to buy in-game items such as SP or faction items with the aurum, what happens?
SP can't be traded normally, and can only come from time, but now 12 year olds can ask mummy for cash to buy it and instantly fly battleships.
Faction gear doesn't come from nowhere. Faction gear comes from LP, and at some point in buying it with the ISK, someone had to earn the LP to buy the item. LP cannot be traded. Aurum for faction items would therefore make LP pointless.
Your argument is invalid because ISK enters and exits the game at all times with normal gameplay. SP does not get traded between players. LP does not either.

Unless that 5 year vet is sporting a battle cruiser fitted with T2 gear. Allowing limited purchases of SP could help newer players, and allow older players to cut that 90 day training plan to 60 days for that sweet new ship. XP boosts are part of a lot of games. What I don't want to see is anything that can be produced by a player.

i think people who buy SP and ships/items for real cash are morons.
its pretty easy, even as a casual player, to get money in eve.
but im totally fine if some idiot wants to spend his monthly salary on an internetspaceshipgame.
he will get killed 9 out of 10 (yea he may get to kill a rifter) times because he lacks experience.
more money for CCP

It doesn't help new players at all. How many times have you come across new players ratting in expensive BSs that you know they lack the skills and the experience to fly to its fullest, which ended in you killing them in a funny manner?
Heck, look at that drauth90 faction fit machariel-drake guy.

Yes, you can currently buy PLEX with real dollars, buy character in the Character Bazaar, buy awesome ship, so no change there. In other words:
Pay to win is already possible.
The problem with MT skills is that CCP would be effectively taking over the current player driven skills market (The Character Bazaar), killing it. In other words, it would be a hostile takeover of a player driven market in eve and would set a dangerous precedent - if you remove player driven markets from eve, what do you have left; I don't think you could call it Eve anymore.

I've already experienced the implementation of microtransactions in two other fully developed games, and although neither was as established as EVE is, I can honestly say that the "plastic players" who ****d their credit cards were never as good as true players. They were cannon fodder.
Maybe I'm wrong here and EVE does have the potential for power to hold weight over skill, but unless somebody drops $5000 into making a nullsec booster alliance or a mining corp that strips every belt I can't really see it having much of a degenerative effect on the game. Not saying I like the idea, but it's feasible.

Some of the best times I've had in this game were when I was starting out, skilling up. Eve is not (was not?) a game for short attention span WoW types.

I AGREE. spending IRL $$$ for Skillpoints is a nice way to costumize your character you love, and not just buy someone's character with half-weird or weird name:)

Edited by: Dutarro on 25/06/2011 01:57:47 We already have dollars/euros/etc. for skill points; it's called a subscription fee. Everyone who has multiple accounts has been trading real money for skill points for years.
