Any know of any other Spaceship MMOs or single player games even? Looking forward to sword of the stars 2, but that's the only new spaceships game I know of.
I know Perpetuum and I'm downloading now, but I mean like flying in space with pewpew lasers.
Thanks in advance.

Gone? Oh, you mean in some myspace drama style too cool to play it anymore way. Well, buh-bye! Enjoy whatever you decide to play next but just do us all a favor. Don't come back.

I hear Eve Online is pretty good, I keep reading about it everywhere. Even the people who hate it keep playing it for some reason, so it must be good!

Just incase any people new to space games are looking here's a few old ones: Homeworld(1/2), X(1,2,3), Sins of a solar empire, Sword of the stars, Tarr chronicles and the end age of 'spore' are all pretty enjoyable

I started playing eve in 2007. Even back then I remember people QQ about CCP not caring, the CSM being a coverup to shut the community up, CCP only catering to bears and casuals, etc, etc. It's always been the same. The only thing that change is CCP became a bigger company. So what do you want from them? A cookie? A medal?

No more new single player sci-fi space games, and not much good mmos also.

Maybe a actual response to the questions that have been up for what 2 days now? Instead of addressing only 2 points which not a lot where even upset about. Instead we get silence.

Last time i checked Mass Effect was a game, based off science fiction, and was set in space. So I believe that would classify it as a sci-fi space game.

There's always going back to old SP trading and combat games like Elite, Pirates! and Escape Velocity. Plus others I'm not recalling off the top of my head.
Sadly I'm unaware of another MMO like Eve that balances combat with trading and industry so well. Jumpgate is far too twitch for my tastes :-\
Still, I might go play EverQuest 1 again for a few months. Or something I've not tried yet, like Rift. I doubt I'll stay for long in a non-sandbox (certainly not the years we've given Eve), but once Eve finishes it's descent down the toilet I'm sure other spaceship sandbox MMOs will arise to fill the void. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

I'll be setting up a freelancer server shortlyish to satisfy my sci-fi mutliplayer needs.
It's not great but the server cap might be about 100 people, which working together or killing each other or whatever may be pretty fun, particularly with the semi-decent economy. PLUS there's no CCP -----

WTB sandbox and a game where production really matters.
Crafting systems in most MMO is pretty pointless, since items are usually indestructible there and money has a limited value. Anyone knows of a game where economy, diplomacy and the PvP aspects is remotely similar to EVE? Don't give a rats ass if it's in space or not. -

Tachyon: The Fringe (Campaign + Multiplayer, Ten Ships total) X2: Threat (SandBox single-player) X3: Reunion(SandBox single-player) Freelancer (Campaign - Tries to use SandBox, nothing like X-Universe games)
Those are good single-players, although Tachyon IS actually multiplayer hardly anyone plays it anymore or even know what it is. X2 and X3 have slow starts, but very on par with EVE's 'SandBox' in terms of building fleets and be able to fly anything from small fighters to Carriers. Also, they are all joystick compatible.
Freelancer is VERY SIMILAR to Black Prophecy, an action-shooter space MMO that just came into Beta for US and has already been released in Europe. BP is something of a grind for levels, but the PvP is fun and you can kill people multiple levels above you since levels don't affect atrributes, on the skills you choose to gain at each level. I highly recommend trying BP - warning, it will be F2P and does have a premium store. Has a ways to go in terms of content, but it's fun and, well, free is never a bad thing for fun stuff. BP is joystick compatible, but I'm told it gimps you because it's a floating reticle game.
Sins of a Solar Empire is a strategy space game that has a fairly active online community - Starcraft II is more fun imo, but you can save multiplayer games on SINS for later (games can be as long as 16+ hours in 10 person matches). So as far as MMO's go, I recommend Black Prophecy - I didn't like Perpetuum personally, but it is getting a fair number of EVE vets after this fiasco.

Never played the sequel, though I'd heard that, as well. Privateer was obviously different, as an on-rails solo game in the days before Internet (IIRC), but...Scarily similar to EVE in many ways, don't you think.
In all, though, the Wing Commander universe was mucho-big win.

Infinity: Quest for Earth.
My jaw drops every time I look at the galleries...Might just admit defeat vis-a-vis EVE (It's so sad for me that I don't even want to log in much anymore--that's what 2.5 years of perseverance, learning the hard way, and making such wonderful mates to fly with comes to, and that it's only taken < 1 week--the money doesn't even matter, OK, That's what these idiots can't ever seem to get through their f**king heads...), and download the combat-engine test client-thingy they've got out at present...
I know you couldn't give two ****s anymore, f**king incompetent* worthless backstabbing garbage CCP, but if there is anyone left amongst you who still has any vision and professional integrity, then they might want to head over to I:Q4E's homesite, and take a good, hard look.
