Seriously,
Are you guys really this out of touch?
This is artistic? Melting people's computers and breaking compatibility is a technological achievement?
Protip for CCP Board of Directors: The sooner you fire this clown, the better.

Core i7 - 930 @ 3.6 Ghz 6 GB Ram @ 1600 EVGA GTX 580 GPU
I've got all settings maxxed out. My character looks nothing like my portrait, as you can plainly see.

You should try APB, their editor is ****ing INSANE. CCP should have just bought a copy of theirs tbh.
Also, the gfx quality of incarna is much lower then inside the char editor

Aye, my guy is definitely supposed to be white. I actually made it look just like a real life friend as a joke. I'm pretty sure he won't be amused to see himself as a chocolate plastic head which represents, according to CCP Hillmar, an "artistic achievement".

Sorry folks the Character Creator alone is more than enough to sell folks on the product, its just that much better then anything else out there. You say the rest is ugly or has bad lighting. For a first implementation of the product nothing is actually broken, the Character or Avatar is in fact just fine. Its the environment that needs some work. Although, there is the pointy breasts issue due to differences in the CC and the CQ. Most people run it fine, like it, and think the lights need work.

Except that I'm not complaining about performance. I get completely smooth gameplay at highest settings. The ships and the world all look great and run fine. My character looks like he was made out of melted chocolate. I didn't do anything to make him look this way, that's the way he looked when I logged in to CQ for the first time.
Obviously, there are problems with this release. I'm glad to know it doesn't affect everyone, but it certainly affects me at the least, and it's not a computer issue.

Grom, If there is one thing that people can't complain it's that Incarna (Character and Room) is actually beautiful.
What you are experiencing is a bug, that should be solved quickly.
In the meanwhile, why don't you tweak your character for it to look more like it should? There is a bug that sometimes will make your face render improperly, and in my case it was related to scars (burn scars).

the character creator system, no matter where CCP got it, stinks.
My character is Black, as in African. You won't permit me to be Black -- what's with that? Programmers are all Euro-Centric??

My computer has no problems running Incarna. My comment about overheating and broken compatibility is a reference to the fact that these things are happening to others. My issue is what my avatar looks like.

Umm not to sound rude or anything but perhaps it's a driver issue with your video card? I have no problem with my older 260. It may have something do to with DirectX 11 cards?

I pay CCP for the game. It is their job to ensure the product works to specifications. As I said, the game runs fine, it's simply my avatar that is borked. My drivers aren't selectively making my avatar and only my avatar look messed up.

My 2 year old laptop runs CQ just fine with heat issues of course, but it's a laptop what are yah gonna do. I bought a new computer just yesterday and I'm still trying to work out the bugs for CQ. It's a stop motion claymation fest atm... FML.

Edited by: Sakura Ren Fenikkusu on 25/06/2011 20:19:16 You being black in CQ can be two things: 1) Legitimate Bug or Installation/Patch issue. The texture for the white skin for your exact race/body combination could've been misplaced, or corrupted on patch/installation. 2) You purposefully faked it get attention. (No offense, that is just a possibility and is not out of the question for some people.)
The biggest problem with the Captain's Quarters is lightning and your character's emotionless face. Once they fix that, it will look a lot better. (It is still a hell of a lot better than Black Prophecy *shudder*)
My Computer's Specs: MB: BIOSTAR TF520-A2 CPU: AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core Processor 4000+ 2.1Ghz VID: ATI Radion HD 4850 1GB MEM: PC2-6400 1GB x4 (Total: 4GB) HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1GB 7200RPM SATA OS: Windows 7 Professional (64 Bit)
On maximum settings, I get a flawless 60 FPS in-space. 30FPS in Captain's Quarters. Captain's Quarters goes up to 50FPS with some setting decreased, but no loss in quality. This is running two client in full-screen mode. The Captain's Quarters loads in less than 5 seconds for me.
Suggestions: - Disable Physically Simulated Cloth & Hair (Reduced CPU) - Disable Resource Loading Cache (Less Memory Used) - Incrementally Reduce Interior Detail and Shadow Detail settings until you have a steady FPS.

Just thought I'd post my own comparison as well. I don't think the actual Avatars look as good as they do in the character creator. The engine seems to be different. It's not too far off but none of the texture that exists in the creator actually exist on the Avatars (skin tone and texture specifically), at least not on my machine.

I would be happy if my character had the same skin tone as my avatar ... it doesn't have to look as nice as the chargen (although my computer could certainly handle that) ... right now I look like I'm made out of chocolate colored melted wax.

Which just confirms you don't get what's happening. You took a 50% FPS hit in a small room! You want to know why we aren't walking in stations? Because the day they open it up to big rooms and hallways with other high polygon count moving objects your computer wont be able to run it worth a crap on even low settings. So get ready to fork out some serious money for a gaming rig in the future, because you won't be happy with the performance when they put this out. For me CCP has failed to deliver the promise of a playable game, and now they simply want to fleece the players with useless fluff items, while ignoring all the gameplay issues that have plagued us for years. If you want to continue to play a game that is designed to take your money, while ignoring your concerns about playability, your welcome to do so.
And BTW, My main system is:
AMD Phenom II x 4 925 2.8 gig ATI Radeon HD 5750 4 gig Win 7
Guess what, it gets almost the identical stats to yours in CQ...so if you think your going to just slap in a new video card when lagging in station hits, think again.

It seems thay forgot to make the hair cast shaddows in QC as well like in your pic. also it seems you hair is totaly static
All the lights and shaddows are all broken you can make every light apear infrunt of the player things (thats what there getting called) even tho the lights are behind. shaddows from lights that are not there and no shaddows from the ones that are. and also as said the textures are not right. and it all looks a bit wrong round the edge of everything (cloths ears eyes hands) It also does nothing.why is something that does nothing here at all..... o its for things to come arr right i understand its a glimse of whats comming, you mean nothing usefull? brill
also in 80% of the QC it looks ****. you have to get everything lined up 100% mint for it to look good or should i say better.
Now i am not saying it looks bad yer it looks ok but afer so much work thay have put in to this and all the hype and to just get this i am fully disapointed. Now ever since i 1st heard about WIS i was totaly agansed it so that does not help, because in my eyes it does not help me one bit in space which is were the game realy is.

The CQ has lower poly models to accommodate low-end video cards. While in the character creator, you can set everything to "maxium" and the textures can afford to be huge because the scene complexity is literally one avatar, no collision detecting, etc
Complaining about it overheating and asking for a feature that would be put every more strain on your system is well... ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

i did not say anything about overheating.
I just said with everything set on max on twin SLI'ed GTX260's it still does not look that good. Now i am not saying that you need epic comps to play eve BUT playing games on PC's should requier some leval of goodish pc and if peoples pc's are realy maxing out on this mybe thay should lookinto new hardwear not just for eve but every new game that will be comming out in the nest 2 years or so.
If you dont like that you have to get new hardwear to keep up with moden games you can go buy a PS3 and go play dust
on the otherhand why does the QC take more GFX hardwere than OUTSIDE in space which is were most of the tec should be put. ---------------------------------------------- I fail At forums ٩๏̯͡๏)۶ |
