I was just now trying to collect ideas for items/services to sell for AUR. The only limitations - they can't be just pure vanity things, but they can't give any direct advantages either.
I came up with two : holo battle recorder (both a one-lump big fee and recurring consumables) and the EVE-CCG as a game-within-a-game. Described those two in that linked thread, second post.
Wondering if anybody else can come up with something useful.
I REALLY like those ideas. I'm sure they would be very popular.
Especially the CCG idea. However nice the CCG is, you just can't play with your friends because it seems you're the only one in the world that knows what the game is... Who would play with you? That's the main problem with it...
BUT! If the CCG exists in eve and you can buy booster packs etc, with AUR (At the same price as a normal booster pack in RL), you'd expect a MASSIVE amount of people actually getting into this game for the first time (Maybe give a free starter pack as a demo/tease?). A virtual CCG, in Incarna, full of many other people that also play Eve. This is just perfect! It would be good also if the cards you buy from the physical store could be added to your account in game (Buy cards from store, type in code, get them in-game too!). This would allow more "Collectors" to buy these cards as the double value from having them in game would most likely appeal to them a lot more!
As for the Holo recorder, it wouldn't be a "Server" affecting monster as it would record the simulation client-side. From a technical point of view, i'm sure it's not impossible and many people would want to buy it to make uber awesome videos of fleet engagements! The demand for this feature, if sold for AUR would justify the time/money to create it! I agree this to be an excellent idea!
