Edited by: Katrina Cortez on 26/06/2011 23:26:29 The big question everyone wants answered is "Eve going P2W"... a simple yes or no will suffice. If they arent prepared to answer this then a CSM meeting is just a pointless PR gesture. Anything less than a yes or no is just going to drag this out even more.
The day Eve Online died.
Since this answer could be easily given in a statement and they haven't... well, you know where that is going.

I think CCP already knows what they are going to go ahead with, regardless of the meeting with the CSMs. The discussion about micro-transactions in the beginning are an example of that

A devblog emphatically denouncing the implementation of Play-to-Win will ever happen would be all that is necessary.
The great Emergency CSM Summit 2011 will just be a way to try to let us all down easy.

CSM meeting is almost certainly just another PR exercise, wined, dined and pampered, they'll think CCP are their best mates by the time they leave.

Plus, they're meeting with the wrong CSM.
I don't want them to negotiate with Neville Chamberlain (Mittens) I want them to negotiate with Winston Churchill (Mynxee).

It's amazing how rohypnol, a CSM member, a double bed, a donkey, some imaginative camera work and a threat of image leakage can aid summit agreement in CCP's favour!

Its just more obfuscation of the core issue that could have been resolved in a 15 second right up saying "We will never introduce non-vanity aurum items into the game in any way shape or form, in addition Incarna will be optional to our playerbase."
That they instead made several deceptive posts avoiding the key issues shows beyond a doubt they full intended to gouge us (whether fear has curbed their ambition now is irrelevant).
This entire incident is a monument to bush league management and a degree of incompetence that I do not believe I have seen reflected in any MMO I have ever played. This outshines both Vanguard, Tabula Rasa and SWG.

You mean how he said now gold ammo. Then that it would evolve.
If you dont cancel your sub if the CSM meeting is a sham you deserve to have CCP **** your wallet.

We now why... and we know why they are dragging it out. They just need to bite the bullet and get it over with instead of dancing around it like a bunch of pussies.

This is meeting is just buying time because it would be terrible press if all the CSMs quit.

it is simple for me
the day ccp introduce pay for advantage im outta here - playing a game using cheats (rl money) defeats and devalues the game
i dont care about paying for vanity, custom ship logos/skins ccp can charge what they like for thos items.

No one cared about vanity. The prices were crazy. but we would have let that go and just said well it cant affect the game so it doesn't matter.
That was the compromise we as players were willing to make. It was the leaked memo that started the real Fire. And showed that they clearly intended to do what they promised not to and what we told them we would not accept.
Then the non response to the questions a bout them putting game altering items into the nex store.
Then the leaked email of a CEO that shows they dont give a damn about the players.
I used to post maybe once every few months. My post count is now off the charts because of CCPs corrupt mentality and lies.

I believe the meeting is pointless. CCP are flying the CSM to iceland almost a week from now to
1. Let forum rage calm down 2. By them some extra time before they announce "gold MT" so the story might be old news and not make headlines.
CCP has already made up their mind to implement MT since they can't give us a straight answer. We have recieved multiple cyrptic devblogs that have basically said "F U EVE community. You need to buy $1000 pants so you can be cool when we force you to use CQ. Afterall, you won't be able to undock due to 1 day old pwn-mobile equipped noobs camping your stations."
The CSM is just a PR stunt so gaming websites/mags can report that CCP is communicating with the playerbase. I think the CSM are meerly there so CCP can figure out what they're going to tell the EVE community in order to try to **** the least amount of people off when they "officially" announce "gold MT."

To many people are watching this now... its not going to go away. Meeting with the CSM is not particularly notewothy, but the outcome will be. I only see this ending badly for CCP I'm afraid. Especially if the CSM walks out afterward.

Well if it comes to EVE dying I'm glad I was a part of it while it lasted. I have never played a game quite like this with such an awesome community. If people are willing to raise this much hell trying to save something they love it only shows how great it must be.
It's unfortunate newer players won't experience it.

already have my eyes elsewhere. I'll keep my accounts dormant, if this is ever resolved I may come back. I live in a big city, love my job, love my girlfriend and generally love my sweet life. I'm not going to sit around and wait for some dudes in iceland to make the game I want to play. No time for that crap. Change is the only constant and I intend to change my mental junkfood.

I hate to say this as I have loved this game for over 4 years, but what is happening is obvious.
CCP blunders and underestimates it's player base yet again, creating a huge firestorm of bad publicity.
So suddenly they send for their 'best buds' the CSM.
Or rather send for them as a delay tactic or 'yes men'.
I am frankly surprised the CSM is going along with it. Either their ego's like the stroking ("CCP needs us we are not impotent after all!!!!") or they are too stupid to see they are being used, and all of us being used by their fail.
No face to face meeting (delay) is needed at all.
News flash - the CSM should be the first ones to point that out, not preparing for yet another free trip to Iceland complete with 10 day delay in any new information from CCP forthcoming.

They are working real hard. CCP isnt fooling them. Read their blogs.
I suspect CCP is stalling while they prep some of their other Incarna stuff. Then they will roll it out and expect the issue(s) to go away.

Congrats man. So far I was thinking this was one of CCP's better ****ups. Now it turns out it was all carefully planned. You can stuff that CSM meeting. This isn't about resistance to change...this is about YOU screwing over loyal customers and breaking the word of your company to that customers. I'd be ashamed to be you.
Good thing is I don't need to cancel subscriptions. I always pay for a period. It just runs out :)
