Planet Calypso is BASED on real world money... for starters your example is full of bull****... second of all although i love eve-online, sometimes i wish that everything goes as CCP and guys like you want it... Full of MT and non-vanity items, old hardcore community gone and new 10-20 year old community to emerge staying in EVE for... 2-3 months? Or you trully believe that even if they have the UBER character those young gamers will like EVE online's boredom as we do? Therefore i would like to see your stupid-ass face afterwards crying out loud BRING BACK THE OLD EVE! You moron...

No, ccp responded, and stated several times they would not have non-vanity items in NeX... its just that the players are ignoring this.
I mean, read the current DevBlog, it again states there will be no non-vanity items in NeX. Yet the players still rage on about NeX killing eve blah blah blah.
It reminds me of the Birthers after obama released his certificate. It doesnt matter what the **** you show or say to these people. They believe what they want, facts be damned.

so, how does play 2 win work again?
youre working under the assumption that if you 'pay 2 win' youll just get pwnt by people in numbers?
You cant categorically say P2W works simply by stating youll lose to a group of better players if you just rely on your $ spent, it doesnt work like that. Youre assuming the individual who P2W is a troll and will never play with others.
What if entire alliances are made of P2w pilots? what if, a group of real life buddies who work in high paying jobs get together and plough all their money into the best ships and the best weapons, without having to spend the time to earn the stuff in game? what, you think your 'group of skilled pilots' is going to balance that fight out?
P2W segregates the player base into who can afford to compete and who cant, it will take only one alliance to kit themselves out and start conquering systems before everyone has to just to stand a chance.
And under NO circumstances is that ever acceptable, the division between the rich and poor in reality is bad enough as it is, id thank you kindly not to introduce such stone age ideals into a video game. _______________________________________________

NO REASON???????
Weve had P2W MT with Plex for years, and theyre mad that some player out there would DARE to buy a monocle for RL Money ROFL, u gotta be kidding me.
There is not one way in the game that you can spend money to get an advantage over someone else.

Would you care to say which MMO's have worked well with in game Cash Stores that sell Non-Vanity items that have the player driven economy that Eve has?
Well Planet Calypso for one, a guy bought an astroid there for 100,000 pounds or something, (from memory) straight into the Devs wallet, deus-ex-credit-card, he's charging other players to enter his property and has made a killing. There is a player driven economy in that game.
can't say i've heard of Planet Calypso before, but that could work in EVE. Imagine the hilarity of someone spending $10k on an shiny new outpost, only to have it taken of them by some alliance the following week.

Id you like it some much go to those other MMO's eve has never needed it nor will ever need it ISK is king here no other need for any other currency or micro-transactions crap i have been playing since 2007 and the main reason i stayed with eve is they didn't nickle and dime you to death to enjoy a game i believe in PLAY to win.... not PAY to win and the bad press we generated to get an answer proves it here are just a few examples of what happens when you go against the masses of EVE Seriously we are passionate cause we love this game and would hate to see it die http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/25/eve-online-controversy-erupts-in-protests/

Originally by: Nyssa Litari Dear CCP,
It is not that you made the NeX items unreasonably pricy, although you have. It is not that we merely dislike change. Some of us dislike it, some of us welcome it.
It is that your business plan, from everything we can see, intends to take away the gameplay central to Eve; the player-driven economy. You're planning on making players that have spent time training for manufacturing, researching blueprints to wring out research efficiencies compete with a deus ex credit card.
Someone else pointed out that many player corporations have standings aid as a service for new recruits. You have players themselves advancing the social mechanics of your game, as part of the gameplay. Do you really think it's a good idea to disrupt that?
When we join, we join for the shiny. I joined because I might someday get to fly a Nyx. I'll admit that. But I've stayed, (and paid for new accounts like this one), because it is the players that drive the lore. The epic battles people talk about in chat while mining are the battles that they or their friends participated in, or caused. All of the politics is real. The bad guys are that other group of players that threw a wardec your way.
What we're worried about is that you'll start by taking the little things away, like offering standings aid as a player corp service, and move on to bigger things. There will be people that are willing to pay real money for the I-win-mobile. If you think that you can boil a few hundred thousand frogs to reach out to the few thousand teenagers with dad's credit card you'll lose us too. Then you will have lost what makes the game worth playing.
You'll lose the experienced FCs that know how to run a fleet and can train noobs to be just as valuable as the pilot in the that T2 cruiser. You'll lose the alliances that police their own territory making the alliance mechanics work. You'll lose the smart players who have poured so much time, thought, and effort into the game. The only kinds of players you gain are the ones with short attention spans. The ones that have no patience. The ones that play a "title" and move on.
And what happens when that's your player base? You have to be forever adding "content" like WoW does. Here's the new dance of the month. I've come to hate the term "content" because it's come to be akin to "just give them more icons". I'm not looking for just "content", I'm looking for play.
Most of your players today are not kids. I'm in my late thirties. I work in the software field. Like most of your players, I'm not stupid. I am not just a revenue stream. I say these things not in an attempt to gain your respect. I say these things in the hopes that they make you think about the kinds of players you want inhabiting your universe.
I won't cancel my account yet. You haven't upended the sandbox yet. Like your CEO suggested, I'll watch what you do more than what you say. I played Star Wars Galaxies, I had a character that made weapons. I had a plan in the game to become the premier gunsmith in my little neighborhood. That was what I was going to play toward. Sony changed the game, I dropped my subscription because it wasn't fun anymore. Please don't do that to us.
Regards,
Nyssa

Peter XZ - eve-online community forever will remember you as a valiant knight who fight against his little 2-day inconvenience that most population of 0.0 had to swallow for almost 2 years on daily basis. Which is prolonged by the fact that money from eve was spend not for re-balancing and fixing blatantly broken things. Bur for "much needed" World of Vampire ghaeiness, and double billing and further dis-balancing the game.
Thank you for your existence.

Protesters such as myself love Eve Online and we are hoping that ccp come to their senses. A look at the on line numbers in a certain other game (growth of over 100% in last week) is much clearer indicator. My 6 accounts have been unsubbed - they run out in between 20 days and 2.5 months I will be logging to liquidate stuff and keep skill queues running until either CCP come to their senses and correct stuff or time runs out and those accounts will go idle.
