53 THOUSAND players online today like your game. A couple of Dozen are so mad with rage FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON, They've resorted to shooting Imaginary Statues, with Imaginary Ordinances, From Their Imaginary Spaceships to Prove an Imaginary Point.
If I were you I'd listen to the 53 THOUSAND PLAYERS Instead. Thank you in Advance and Cheers CCP.

Edited by: Norian Lonark on 27/06/2011 10:52:51 OP You are deluded. You think CCP would hold emergency CSM meeting for a couple of dozen accounts.
Whatever you think of the CSM or CCP's reasoning behind this the fact that they are doing this shows that they are that concerned by the amount of negative feedback and / or number of cancelled accounts that they have deemed it necessary to take action.
This action could be stalling or could be a turnaround / confirmation of policy. whatever the reason a couple dozen of accounts would not prompt such action on CCP's part.
You just dont get it do you.

Awww, you really sound depressed. Anyway, down to your little tantrum. Soooo, three trade hubs packed so full the gates auto-close, ÇÇP ****ting bricks so badly they are flying people to Iceland for a meeting, the forums ablaze with outrage, the gaming media all over ÇÇP like a rash... and all caused by a couple of dozen players, eh? What busy players they must be! Get a grip on reality.
We may be firing imaginary ordnance at an imaginary statue, by way of burning a ÇÇP flag, but we're doing so using our own free time in a game we pay money to play. Time and money aren't imaginary. The REASON we devote our time and money to protest is that we don't want the game economy screwed over by things like ships, ammunition and god knows what else appearing out of thin air, bypassing players who are Industrialists and Miners. These items aren't "free" either - SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE has to pay REAL money into the Plex/Aurum cycle at some point. As an aside, while I don't give a crap about vanity items, any company exchanging/bartering (call it what you will) a Virtual Monocle for Aurum that cost someone, somewhere in the chain, seventy US dollars (fourty-four UK pounds) is so far up it's own arse it's probably beyond saving. Good luck to anyone who is so dimwitted they'll buy the vanity items though, because despite what some people persist in thinking we are protesting about vanity items are not an issue..
Don't worry - when we save this game you can pretend you were really there, with the players who REALLY care, helping to save the game.

Why should this concern us?
It is about funding other titles.
Such funding does not mean that we will get to play these games for free, but they will simply be other game titles. What CCP is doing is trying to get a credit from us, which they never intend to return.
The responses by the community over CCP's greed have so far been kind. --

It is not that you made the NeX items unreasonably pricy, although you have. It is not that we merely dislike change. Some of us dislike it, some of us welcome it.
It is that your business plan, from everything we can see, intends to take away the gameplay central to Eve; the player-driven economy. You're planning on making players that have spent time training for manufacturing, researching blueprints to wring out research efficiencies compete with a deus ex credit card.
Someone else pointed out that many player corporations have standings aid as a service for new recruits. You have players themselves advancing the social mechanics of your game, as part of the gameplay. Do you really think it's a good idea to disrupt that?
When we join, we join for the shiny. I joined because I might someday get to fly a Nyx. I'll admit that. But I've stayed, (and paid for new accounts like this one), because it is the players that drive the lore. The epic battles people talk about in chat while mining are the battles that they or their friends participated in, or caused. All of the politics is real. The bad guys are that other group of players that threw a wardec your way.
What we're worried about is that you'll start by taking the little things away, like offering standings aid as a player corp service, and move on to bigger things. There will be people that are willing to pay real money for the I-win-mobile. If you think that you can boil a few hundred thousand frogs to reach out to the few thousand teenagers with dad's credit card you'll lose us too. Then you will have lost what makes the game worth playing.
You'll lose the experienced FCs that know how to run a fleet and can train noobs to be just as valuable as the pilot in the that T2 cruiser. You'll lose the alliances that police their own territory making the alliance mechanics work. You'll lose the smart players who have poured so much time, thought, and effort into the game. The only kinds of players you gain are the ones with short attention spans. The ones that have no patience. The ones that play a "title" and move on.
And what happens when that's your player base? You have to be forever adding "content" like WoW does. Here's the new dance of the month. I've come to hate the term "content" because it's come to be akin to "just give them more icons". I'm not looking for just "content", I'm looking for play.
Most of your players today are not kids. I'm in my late thirties. I work in the software field. Like most of your players, I'm not stupid. I am not just a revenue stream. I say these things not in an attempt to gain your respect. I say these things in the hopes that they make you think about the kinds of players you want inhabiting your universe.
I won't cancel my account yet. You haven't upended the sandbox yet. Like your CEO suggested, I'll watch what you do more than what you say. I played Star Wars Galaxies, I had a character that made weapons. I had a plan in the game to become the premier gunsmith in my little neighborhood. That was what I was going to play toward. Sony changed the game, I dropped my subscription because it wasn't fun anymore. Please don't do that to us.

I fully commend you for stating that you will never pay real life money in Eve for the rest of your life! However will you be as happy once people start pawning you in fights because they payed RL $$$ for Gold-Ammo and a special extra HP Ship.... or getting better mission rewards because they payed $$$ to max their faction with that mission corp...

More than "a couple of dozen". Neither ÇÇP nor the gaming media would even glance at something involving a couple of dozen players.
Considering how large the Eve universe is, and how far some players were from the Trade Hubs (like myself) I think it's impressive that thousands of players kept up a rolling protest in the Hubs all weekend. I also think it's impressive that the protesters decided to stop the protests until the results of the forthcoming meeting are made available. We made our point, then left. If ÇÇP evade the real issue again we can just as easily go back.

MMO's where MT works (like lotro) only sells gameplay changing items to F2P where subs players get those for free (trait and legendary slots).
Otherwise only vanity items are sold and for very reasonable prices (horse for 8$) |

Well Planet Calypso for one, a guy bought an astroid there for 100,000 pounds or something, (from memory) straight into the Devs wallet, deus-ex-credit-card, he's charging other players to enter his property and has made a killing. There is a player driven economy in that game.
