Exactly right!
This is also my POV and opinions. That I'm female does not have any bearing on this other than the fact EVE Online isn't just populated by testosteron-filled monkeys in ships.

What does being a woman have to do with anything? When I saw the title of the thread I thought the content would be about child birth and breast cancer.

I gather you didn't read the OP. Fair enough. Making quick assumptions based on a title, however, is something people in the UK like to call "Sun readers".
The Sun is a newspaper with a reading age of 6, I was hoping people playing this game were above the level of functional literate. Clearly you're not so you can disregard this topic and move on.

That might be an idea for WiS further down the line. In the NeX store they could provide us with virtual nappies and milk bottles to feed the young 'uns.
Breast cancer, however, is not something to joke about and has no place in a discussion about EVE Online's future. It happens to both men and women of any age and is a horrible disease.

But breast cancer awareness is a very important issue, so shouldn't it be discussed everywhere?

I like spiders so that wouldn't be an issue for me. The story of Anansi is probably the best one from the old mythologies.

It's such a pity, you made a lot of excellent points in your post, but because of your chosen title it won't get the respect it deserves. (well, whatever respect there is to be had on internet spaceship forums)

I get the point, a lot of people are saying the same things so I reckon it wasn't very thought out. I've changed the title slightly.

Awww, poor lickle cherub, did the man not do what you want simply because you have a vagina? Did you have to call him a Sun Reader to inspire yourself into feeling superior, awww, get used to it cupcakes, because it's all downhill... that prime you're so proud of... history, and it ain't coming back. i think CCP needs to be more open in the future, if they had told us oh by the way we have this internal newsletter called fearless where we get people to put incendiary and provoking articles to make people think and challenge people to step up and support or object and yeah often its just baiting for flames etc etc,
then that leak would have been less bad,
if they were more open upfront and honest about stuff like incarna in general it would be better but they stand there going
trust us this will be awesome
then it dosnt measure up, you get one room if you dont like it your literaly shown the door (HOW DID NOONE REALISE THAT WAS A BAD MESSAGE TO SEND)
but all this knuckle head stuff adds up fast,
and no i refuse to call this expansion Incarna, it isnt, this is Road to Incarna - Captains Quaters, not until your actually interacting is Incarna truly here, BUT IT SHOULD BE OPTIONAL NOT FORCE FED Me? im just sitting here,

I'm your worst nightmare, a straight man without an ounce of care for your vagina. It is so alien that you have to decide that there is something wrong with me. It's pretty simple, I'm sure your superior female intellect can figure this out. After all, as you implied, you are super rational. Clearly as your replies suggest. Or not.

People say CCP are using EVE Online as a cashcow to fund their two other projects. I donnot believe this to be entirely true. Even if that was true it wouldn't matter as long as we are being told the whole truth at all times and the future vision of the game was clear to us.
CCP told us countless times that their vision for eve is the ultimate sci-fi universe simulator. They ARE milking us right now for dust and WoD, but both projects give huge junks of their development back to eve. Problem with ccp seems more that they have problems with the size of their project, they grow and the management did not grow up fast enough.
Remember what google did to prevent problems from this process? They hired simply a top notch manager with lots of experience as ceo while larry page and sergey brin stayed owners of their cooperation and started to learn from Eric Schmidt and actually work. ;) Why a forum in the year 2011 still has no automatic double post merge which can be done even with javascript mostly is beyond my understanding. |

It's pretty safe to assume that all companies have internal documents and communications that if read by the community at large would be taken out of context and misinterpreted.
Also keep in mind that is only only part of Incarna, the first part of incursions didn't have much content in it either. There is more coming, probably sooner than most people think.
That is not to say CCP doesn't needs to work on their communications skills. But there are good reasons for a company to keep things under wraps at times. We have all seen the discontent that can be caused by announcing content too early, Ambulation anyone?

P2W can work in any game where you don't lose all of your stuff that you had on you when you get killed, and in such games where you respawn shortly.
Eve does not have these 2 features of no-cost death and quick respawn.
Where there are very successful arguments for P2W for OTHER games, and I could not disagree with those, after careful consideration, having P2W in an FPS game with no-cost death is like having an open border in Antarctica.
Having P2W in Eve Online is like an open border around Switzerland or the USA - it just won't be possible without changing the country over.
Why do I bring these RL examples? To bring the point home that it just won't work.
P2W just won't work in Eve Online. Yes it's easy to get beat by someone who bought the uber gun when you don't lose anything and respawn right away, and you can get pwned over and over again by the knucklhead who purchased the uber gun, all day, until it becomes a joke on the guy who spent the RL money.
Yes people will make the argument "yeah but you can 'race for pinks' and you still have to buy the faster car first!!! noob! phag! Can't take it?"
and I would say "Well, if I wanted to spend thousands on cars and bet them in races for pinks, I would go out and spend thousands on cars and bet them, not play Eve Online".
We have a right to accept what we want, for entertainment, and deal with what we choose.
Most of the "rage" comes from the fact that many people who don't see this working have spent years accumulating their skills. This is a kind of betrayal.
Oh well.

true im not saying we should have access to the fearless archive,. although it might be interesting to see the correlation or lack between its articles and direction, however because we live in a post wikileaks era telling the community you have something like this. its not to be taken seriously and the players would go ape**** if they saw the kind of things that get thrown in to see what happens it would have made the leak itself less damaging,

P2W items don't really add that many new balance issues to pvp, provided they aren't noticeably more powerful. You still have the issue where one guy can buy a 20m SP account, a faction fit Dramiel and full implants and trounce another guy who spent his first month training up 1-2m SP, flying a T1 fitted Rifter with no implants.
What it does do is break the in-game economy, because CCP gets to set a fixed price on those items.

If you don't have any care for it, how come you've mentioned it 4 times?
OP pretty much has the right idea IMO. People who are *****ing about NeX prices really are in no position to do so. If CCP was charging 12,000 AUR for a cruiser, with no other alternative to getting the ship, then I would be right there with them complaining. But they aren't. They are charging AUR/RL money for an OPTIONAL addition to your character, not something that is mandatory. As far as I've seen they have NOT officially said they will be introducing "golden ammo", so the pay 2 win issue is no existent. Even if they do, it is NO different from building a super carrier. It costs a corporation time, resources, and isk to build a super carrier, but not every corporation has the resources to build it. From MY POV, this community is VERY quick to jump on a new player saying "I got ganked in a frigate by 6 battle cruisers" with "It's EVE, its not meant to be fair." Yet the minute it effects them, they throw a fit. Congrats guys, you now know how the person who you ganked with 7 of your buddies feels. Suck it up. and move on.
Oh and look at STO, they have a VERY similar store to the NeX, and it sells new ships with alternate ways to aquire without using RL money. Same thing CCP seems to be doing, and they don't have any issues.

TBH they wouldn't be getting nearly as much grief if -the NeX prices weren't so high -the Incarna expansion actually had some good new features and hadn't broken existing ones
I don't think your average non forum-posting Eve person cares about the sanctity of the player driven market.

I didn't say STO was fun, I find it quite boring as well. I was simply pointing out that they aren't having problems with their store that DOES sell advantages for RL money. NeX only sells additions that do not in anyway effect your gameplay, other then potentially making you a more likely primary.

issue of scale and timing though,
eve evolved over time into its current state wheras STO was built like that,
will STO reach eve's current size AND age with that mentality intact? its also sharded unlike eve which is one server one universe differences like that give it some insulation against the market being destroyed while at the same time cheapening the ingame economy, i have a friend who is a die hard WoW boy and he admits some shards have completly banjaxed markets because people have gone out and screwed the system, so he leaves those kind of severs for pastures not so borked Me? im just sitting here,
