C = Colossus
They're the founders, but have been dead or inactive for a long long time. Could have picked a different name when you made your alliance
On a side note, did Immensea Federation merge to form XF or did it dissolve?
Just curious.

Why change a name everyone knows u as?
its like mcdonalds changing name to bob's burger bar. in theory they would lose bussiness because peeps are like i want a mcdonalds oh **** it is no longer here. although mcdonalds is rather disgusting and bobs burgers r probably better :)
hmm well that kinda makes sense im tired and been at work all day but im sure you get my point :P |

For a while X-Trading and some of the older other corps made up Xetic and all newer corps were formed into Immensea Federation. After growing substantially, more people were heard and we formed one big group(merged), as opposed to two factions within the alliance, one being more powerful than the other. Now we have X-Trading as executor and we all as 1 in the Great Xetic Federation. I dont think anyone wanted to lose the name Xetic and our symbolic "X" either

Actually XETIC is short for "XEnophobic Traders aIn't Carebears" but Conram told us to keep this secret so noone expects us using something else than 27%-Cargoexpanders and Mining-Lasers.

From my personal experience the IF was mostly a XETIC trialship. Wasn't too insightfull in the long run as the requirements for XETIC were insane high and therefore on one hand XETIC stalled and IF got crowded and on the other XETIC and IF got more and more unified. One can argue who joined whom.
There were three official phases of names for the XF:
Late 2003: XETIC, an oligarchic counsil (no, its not olyyygarchic :-)
Early 2004: XETIC and Immensea Federation, shortform XIF, a developing democracy
Mid 2004: XETIC Federation, short from XF, a democratic federation, in early 2005 consolidating with even more federal and ministerial structure.
Anyway, everyone who calls today XETIC something else than XETIC or XF is living WAY in the past. Especially any bondage to the region of Immensea isn't existent for around one year - it is one of the claimed regions, nothing more. In fact it is the only region which was given away to the IF for nearly half a year. So now you might understand why XETIC always giggled when someone claimed he had kicked the **** out of XETIC in Immensea, it is like saying "we kicked **** out of Norad in Delve by fighting Venal alliance".

Ah yes, the good old days when things were still confusing in 0.0...
I'm not sure wether Colossus still is very active. I know the ceo still plays some, but it's been a while since we talked.
As far as Xetic goes, its probably changed so much since I left it about a year ago that I wouldn't recognise it back. You even have stations now

Some/many members of CTECH have formed into a new corporation.
Immensea Federation corporations were assimilated into Xetic.
Xetic is a rather good name. It is very different from most other alliances in the game in that it neither claims heritege to a specific region, nor does it blatantly speak it's nature or claimed nature as other alliances does. Another aspect I like about the name, is that Xetic has never stated the obvious and called themselves "Alliance" as part of their name.

Yeah, you'll soon be one of the few in Eve to have been in one and the same corp for 2 years straight since release day (or shortly after in your case I think)
Anyway, Xetic is ok. I remember how hard it was in the beginning tho, using the enarest CA stations as depot since there were none in all of xetic space at the time. First time I ran into Evolution too, and boy did I hate them back then
